M Performance Limited Edition Problems

I would like to take a poll to see how many people who picked up the Limited Edition vehicles have had problems with their vehicle to date.

From day one, i noticed a rattling most noticeable when i lifted off the accelerator on 3rd around 3000rpm which almost consistently sounded twice like an actuator moving.

Eventually got worst that i would hear it on upshifts or downshifts anytime there was any change in the boost or vacuum pressure. Also would hear a grind on ignition.

Went back to the dealership twice and they reported they could not replicate the problem or that whatever noises i heard where within tolerance.

Finally had enough and went back to the dealership and took the shop foreman with me on a ride as i could consistently recreate the noise. And with the windows down, it was easily heard as a grind or rattle.

Left the vehicle with them last week and told them i would not pickup the car until this was resolved. After 6 days, they find that the exhaust baffle was broken and there was a lot of water in my exhaust which they replaced under warrantee along with the tips. Also had water condensation in the taillights which were also replaced.

Problems have not reoccured since picking up the car.

Much thanks to T+C BMW who got everyone from the sales advisor, service advisor, shop foreman and technician involved to patiently solve this problem as well as Darren from DC Motorwerx for spending so much time to lift and stethoscope pretty much the entire car.

No issues here. Unless you want to add constantly having to tell people it's NOT an M3 to the list.

Oh I had problems with the Idrive. Maybe because it was on accessory mode too long (15 minutes) while I was playing with it, but all of a sudden it said it had to reboot.

After the rebooting I lost all my presets...

No problems with mine...except I had to reset my satellite. But I haven't driven it much (650km) so far. I think it'll be warm enough next week to take the beast out of the cave at last.

The novelty of getting into the car a pressing sport+ still hasn't gotten old, so I'm averaging 18.5/100kms all city though.

Still in break in period, so getting low to mid 12's/100kms even though I am always in Sport. Expecting that to go to crap in another 700km or so, lol

Uh...Sys...you don't honestly expect us to let a comment like this slide, do you?

Bahahaha. Yeah that didn't sound great. I like to ride HER hard sounds better. But now I feel like AdrianWong is riding her a lot harder!

Anyone know how these numbers compare to an m3?

oh thanks guys, I am at 15-16 (6MT on sport mode) in the city and I thought it was a lot.

I almost regret switching from my V8 Lexus ISF hehe. I changed thinking the consumption would be lower....

14.6 l/100km so far; keep in mind the first 1,500 km usually sucks and to make it worse still winter set-up.

REALLY hard to believe. Either you drive like a Grandmother or your math is off. I drove my 335 to Montreal on cruise and got JUST 10. Zero accel, fun, city.

Wow. I feel for you Bat. With the CEL on, can you still drive the car "normally" or does it kick it into some sort of limp mode?

I would be taking phone pics and emailing to the dealership. Ask them what they plan on doing since this is an obvious problem. Have you thought about replacing the charge pipe with a metal/aluminium one? Seems with the reading I'm doing anyone that puts a tune on their motor is doing/thinking about doing this and I can't help but wonder if the "new and improved" MPPK is the problem here. Given that it should be under warranty maybe you can get the dealership to kick in for the cost of a new CP.

I only 100kms away from 2,000...so hopefully I'm not the next to join the CEL club!

I've just reached the 1500 km mark. Hopefully I broke it in okay. At around the 1200 km mark I accidently floored to max rev it at "park" thinking I was stepping on the brake before moving... /facepalm Hope that doesn't come back to haunt me. So far so good. Nothing out of the ordinary, but I am disappointed in the road noise. Not sure if its the 20s.. or just the car..

Took an appointment at another dealer, told them the problem and asked them to make sure i dont get this problem again. If they need to keep my car for a week, well they should keep it for a week. Its actually the fifth time cel is on... You guys shouldnt worry, the car arrived from germany with cel on, something is definetly wrong with car and they need to find it. What pisses me is that with this problem that keeps comming, i cant risk modding the car because they might blame the mod...
