F30 335D Msport with 313 BHP

Hi guys:

It is a little quiet in here but now that the MSPORT cars are appearing on dealer systems and the online configuration any day now I am sure it will get a bit lively.

I have a question that none of you will be able to answer with any certainty!

When will BMW release the 335d. I am virtually certain it will be released, and like the 5 series they won't call it 40d, it will be 335d.

I am tempted to order a 330d now and my dealer says delivery will be late July. Do you reckon the 35d will be later this year (I can wait that long) or will it be middle of 2013 (I cannot wait that long!).

Both engines are smashing units!

Try the 328i. I've had my F10 535d M Sport since Sep '10 and I never thought I'd find anything better than the sublime 3 litre dual turbo engine, until I drove the new 3 series.
I know it's not a 6cyl engine and for that reason I all but discounted any possibility of ownership, but my opinion changed very rapidly once I got behind the wheel. There are two very significant aspects you notice immediately - 1. there is absolutely no detectable turbo lag and 2. it is wonderfully free revving. On paper it's marginally slower than my 535d, but it feels quicker because of the engine sound, much better steering and the fact that it shifts gears at somewhere between 6 and 6.5k RPM.
I drove it very hard for a couple of hours on a mixture of fast dual carriageway, slow town crawling and very rapid twisting B roads and managed 37mpg, which I reckon would easily translate to 40+ in real world usage - as good as my 535d and 5 to 10p cheaper per litre cheaper for fuel.
I'm eagerly awaiting next year's launch of the coupé and, unless they come up with something pretty spectacular diesel wise, I'll be going for the 2 litre petrol car.

How much of a time delay was there between the F10 530d and 535d? Maybe a similiar delay for the F30? (given the F30 330d has been announced about a month ago)

I'm very interested to see what they come up with for the next 335d - I just hope there is one.

Just read on other forum that some local BMW dealer in Finland had just received a release note that 335d will be there on spring 2013 and also as xDrive model.

Q: any performance estimate for 335dxDrive model ?

Not much different than the 330 D M Sport.
I have the 35D M Sport X3 and the 330D M Sport 3 series is quicker!!
It's down to "weight". The 3 series touring is 250Kg lighter even with less torque and BHP, it's more frugal and quicker.
I think adding the 4 wheel drive to the 3 series and 335D engine will equal out it's performance with the two wheel drive models using the 330D engine IMO.

Actually if you check for tech specs:

335ixDrive A (5.0s)
535ixDrive A (5.8s)
535dxDrive A (5.5s)

so 335dxDrive A -model should go below 5.0s and should be much faster than 330d!!!

Below 5.0 seconds NO chance. My E90 2010 M3 only just managed 4.9 secs with the 7 speed auto box and my 2011 550i M Sport was 5.1 secs.

If 335d xDrive is going to have same engine than in 535d with 313hp and 630Nm torque, it will easily beat 335i xDrive (306hp, 400Nm, 5.0s) in acceleration, hah!

But a two wheel drive 313bhp 335d will be quicker than a 256bhp 330d. I would guess low 5's for 0-62.

Naturally. And if we check comparison data from 5-series:

530d / xDrive 6.0s
535d / xDrive 5.5s

330d 5.6s

And also funny thing is that 335i xDrive (5.0s) is 0.2s faster than 335i two wheel drive (5.2s).

So maybe we can really see some very good performance numbers for 335d / xDrive as 330d itself is -155kg lighter than 530d! Just cant wait!

In the testes we did at
Sneterton Race track, unless in Sport+ and holding the throttle @3k+ from a stand still NONE of these figures were achievable ( X3 35D, X640D,F10550i all tested) . In everyday "plant your boot and go" you can wave good by too 0.4 sec in any mode.
Be honest just who is going to sit at the lights revving the bolox off there cars for half a second?.

Smile 340D ??

Hi guys,

Massive BMW fan here!! Checking out the latest Audi models and the ones that are announced to be released, I would be very surprised if BMW does not realese the new 340D version on there latest model.

Any updates please as I'm waiting for one and don't want to put my money on the 335D let alone the current 330D.

Cheers

330d M Sport's 0 to 62 mph in 5.6 secs is fast enough. Anything more is sheer madness. In the UK it's pointless. I also prefer unadulterated RWD cars.

My guess.......they wouldn't bring out a 335D/340D (whatever) with near M3 performance until they at least announce the new M3.

A 340D would be too much torque for a car of this size and weight

There are plenty of re-mapped E9X 335d's about. And they have more power/torque than a potential F30 335d or 340d would have (assuming they would fit the 313bhp engine).

Yeah my bad, I was thinking of 760NM/550ftlbs but that would be a 50D

as the 535d is quicker 0.60 than the fastest 3 diesel (albeit .1s), surely they will release a 335d.....

....i think it took them about six-none months last time with the e90.

oh, and a M350d - where do I sign?!

Who knows ... but we shouldn't lose sight of the fact that BMW were going to release a 335D, it was always on the cards. Then, in their infinite wisdom, they binned it because of the hybrid range
