Firstly, if this is in the wrong category, I apologize.

Secondly, I had a COMBOX retrofit done on my car a few months ago. However, now the car says I can not use BMW Assist because my car is not 2014 or newer (I have a 328i xDrive 2013). I contacted BMW Assist and they said the dealer did not activate it.

Of course, my warranty expired and now the dealership will charge me for THEIR OWN MISTAKE! Is there a way to get it activated without paying the ridiculous dealer fees?

Only by talking to the dealer can you attempt to get it done for free

Take Dealer to small claims court for failure to complete the job making your unit worthless and attempting to charge you later to correct their mistake.

I suspect they will quickly do the correct thing.

I was lucky enough not to have to deal with the Combox issues.

Just out of curiosity, did the update include four more years of BMW Assist or just the ability to subscribe to it?

I don't mind paying for it it i's some kind of like coding thing (assuming it's like <$50) just so I avoid the whole waiting at the dealership, missing work, etc.

But obviously, if it's something only a dealer can do, then I'm going to contact the manager asap and get them sorted.
