It's the same part. Newer has gloss black finish and it's illuminated.

Have you read at least first page?

If your 4-Series is built 12/2015, it has neither the cupholder LED nor the illuminated trim which makes retrofitting more complicated.
Please re-read post #2 of this thread carefully.

Thumbs up My first post and first time trying a DIY mod!

Thanks so much for this, Dante. I'm new to the forum and new to car DIY/modifications, but I'm encouraged by your helpful write up to try this for myself.

Not sure about making the Y-cable though so, I might have to ask you for that once I can source the part.

Thanks Dante - the cable arrived safely and I've installed the trim. Works perfectly. As others have said, for me too, the hardest part was removing the ac controls from the original trim.

I got mine from harryfairbairn.co.uk BMW dealer, I ordered by phone. Perfect service and cheaper than my local dealer.

Hi to everyone,
I have a my2013 F31 318d without lighting package (no footwell lights) and without lights above the cup holders.
I was thinking of powering the light strip from the hazard light or the control unit element for the light or the window lifter switch.
Not having the light pack, I was interested in having only amber light.
will it work like this? I was looking for the diagrams to figure out which wire to connect to power the strip.
can someone kindly help me?
I followed the Dante's DIY, exceptional, and now I'm still not knowing how to connect.
Y cables are already ready but I do not know where to connect to make the strips turn on.
thanks to anyone who can help me, I do not know where to get the power to turn on the panel!!
