I'm retrofitting 6wa from basic kombi and gonna order a Y cable like this:

And was wondering if anyone ordered one of these before n how it worked out. Also it says there is 50cm between each connector I was wondering if that was long enough to reach from hu to kombi? Any feedback from someone who has done this would b appreciated or if someone has one they aren't using I could buy.
Also looking to buy a r270 eeprom reader with test clip if anyone has an xtra or not using theirs before I buy one for 55/60$ from ebay. Thank you.

This is only the Y-cable.
But you still need the connection cable from the Y-cable to the Kombi.
The Y-cable is only splitting the wire.

This has two male connections, that's not what plugs into the kombi? Like I'd unplug my head unit, plug male end that was in head unit into the female end of the y cable then one male end into head unit n other male into kombi? I appreciate the help sorry if I'm completely off here.

OK, i had a thinking error.
But anyway i think the cable is too short and you need an extension cable like this.

Maybe a little bit shorter.

Am I right in thinking I need to blank the EEPROM so I can write my own VIN to it?

I'm asking as you have the equipment I'm guessing you've done this before

Also what do you guys mean by test clip? And I've seen people use the terminology DOWQ what is that?
