On my car instead of "Additional Telephone", it says "Telephone 2"--that's my wife's phone. So that's not a setting--it's just a second paired phone.

Google Maps has this setting.

This is how mine works. Wake directions come out over the car speakers and just dim the music/podcast I am playing at the same time.

If you are streaming a podcast, then aren't you using the BT audio streaming? The question is how does Waze do this when you are listening to the radio or satellite?

During radio and satellite (or HDD based music collection, or USB phone connection) I have confirmed that it comes in as a phone call on both waze (by default) and google maps (by enabling in settings as shown in an earlier post). When bluetooth is your audio source, it doesn't come as a call but instead right in the middle of the audio from BT.

they are both owned by google but i find that they give me different routes. waze is typically faster but doesn't give you lane guidance like google maps does

about twice in the past year waze has also directed me to the back entrance of a place (parks where the main entrance was 5 minute drive away) which was not open and wasted time while google had the proper main entrance listed

It is now working like this for me. I'm not sure why it did not before. Thanks all for your input.
