+1. That job was $2600 on my 2004 allroad. Different engine, of course, but I think they still had to pull it to get to the belt, making it so expensive.

Yes, I saw that. It is nice, but too "much" for the Mrs. She doesn't need a V6, and the new CR-V provides enough creature comfort, for her.

Trust me, an F31 or F25 with the N20 would be ideal in my mind, but I'm not sure if she can justify the premium those two have.

Unlikely
If any diesels do make it it would probably be the upcoming 330d or 335d

Maybe my memory got this wrong, but I thought Scott26 had stated that at least for the US, the Hybrid model would replace the need for the 335d and that we'd likely get a four cylinder diesel. Not sure if ROW continues with a 335d or not though, the only oil burner at launch is the 320d, correct?

In the X5 Diesel is a success. In the 335d E90 less so.
Active Hybrid 3 and Active Hybrid 5 are the counterparts for the US Market.

The X3 will receive a Diesel later this year in order to prepare and substitue until the F15 X5 arrives.
The X1 is finally expected to arrive in the US before the end of the year. And the plans are to introduce a four cylinder diesel in the X1.

The 3er Touring will arrive in 328i format with Sport,Modern and Luxury lines . Optional xDrive and M-Sport.

Thanks Scott, really appreciate the quick response. Can you confirm that a three pedal F31 will be available at launch, or do you have those details for the US yet?

If they offer the F30 with a manual in 328i then I can assume the F31Touring will also get manual transmission.

The Touring will have its World Premiere incidentally in its largest market which is also its home market , Germany at the AMI , Leipzig in April. Mirroring the launch of the BMW 5er Touring which also premiered in Leipzig.

Very nice. Thanks for the info. If they give us the ~200hp version of the N47 (or a comparable successor) and price it on par with the X1 28i, that could be a real winner.

It's coming, we're not gettting rid of it, we love it", Ferraiolo said when we asked about the next generation 3 series touring. More from Ferraiolo: "The touring buyers - in terms of their passion for their touring model - they love it and feel very strongly about it."

Do they think we don't feel the same way about the 5 series touring?!?!?

They sort of shot themselves in the foot with the E61 with the standard awd thing. The F11 is beautiful though, but it if were available with awd only, I'd still continue to ignore it. I assume the thought is that Americans see wagons as interchangeable with SUV's, but I'd still prefer rwd.

I love my X5 Diesel and would buy any chassis BMW makes in a diesel. NOT bringing the Diesel 7, 5, or 3.. has me ready to leave the brand. The X5 diesel is my 7th BMW (and favorite) and likely the last.. the A8/A6 is coming in diesel, and at this point that is the way I am going....

I have had the X5d for 2 year, 47,000+ miles and love it for the highway. No interest in $5000 premium for a hybrid as 80% of my driving is highway cruising, where "hybrid" mean nothing...

335is goes away this summer.. Hello Audi who WILL provide the car that fits my needs... Once you go Diesel you do not go back...

Scott, any idea when the F31 might be available in the US? I'm thinking of an ED in Sept-Oct 2012. If F31's not available then, I'll have to decide whether to go with an F30 or wait til 2013. Thanks!

Do you mean those options will come to North America? And does that include Canada?

It makes the GTI look like a better deal since they had the common sense to use a timing chain on it.
This hasn't been the case in over 10 years. I believe the interval on the latest tdi's is 100K mi.

That was true for setups like the Prius.

However on the newer setups, like the Sonata, M35, Activehybrid5, the engine can be declutched at speed and when you light foot it or coast on the highway, the engine will shut down.

Nothing beats the highway cruising mileage of a diesel, however the newer hybrid type is vastly different than the old.

I didn't imply that the new RDX was on par with a new X3, only that is was slightly closer than current RDX is to the X3.

It's not even in the same price point. But I think the RDX is a good value for anyone looking at a loaded CR-V. (as you may have found out?) Side, side note: Do you have the Hondata Flash?

Acura is making it VERY difficult for me to buy one of their vehicles. But dang they are cheap (to buy and to drive for 5-7 years) compared to any new bimmer.

Oh, and my hopes are not high that I will be able to configure an F31 the way I want after playing with the F30 configurator that just went live...

i loved the old TL, those were selling like hotcakes when it first came out. Now their stuff looks like Honda rape cadillac and had kids
