Depends on existing hardware. I do not own any apple products but try running ios 10 on iPhone 3.

Part of limitations are hardware and others are know how as well as finances.

Well iPhone 3 is 8 gernertaions old... a more accurate comparison is running iOS 10 on iPhone 6S; which runs perfectly.

Tried coding this today, set the value to iD6_lite, but on the my vehicle tile it showed a "G" series car, i think it was the 7 series. Is there any way to change this to the 3 series? Changed back to iD5 and now it is back to normal.

My point was ID5 on 2GB HU_NBT2 does not run well and reboots frequently.
Native ID5 is on on 4GB unit.

What is your I-Step? F020-17-03-502 came with additional vehicle choices.

It is not the same thing; updating computer PSdZData is done out of necessity as it does not change what is on vehicle. To read & code, computer's PSdZ must be > vehicle I-Step (Guide). If not, you get "not found [C012]" error when "Read Coding Data."

Hm, seems that my car is too old to change the car shown in iDrive. I guess i have to make my dealer update my i-step then.

WOW. 4.05 seems like going lot higher in the numbering. Have you noticed any significant new features? Maybe ID6 UI for stock ID5 cars??

ISTA-P 3.61.2 is the equivalent to ISTA+ 4.04.32. ISTA-P is being phased out by August 2017.

I do not have ID5, nor have I flashed car with updated software. I just installed on computer.

iDrive 6* UI for stock iDrive 5 cars has been a simple coding change for some time now.

*It's iDrive 6 "light", most likely because it doesn't have the gesture features.

Right. emulajavi asked about "Maybe ID6 UI for stock ID5 cars" which is more-or-less what this is: a different UI for cars that came with iDrive 5.

Hi there I have 2016 X3 with a NBT2 running ID5. I tried the above but it did not work. I suspect it has something to do with the current I Level. The car was assembled in June 2016 and the current I Level is FO25-16-03-502. Is there any thing I can do myself to update the software in order for it to work. The car is due for it's first annual check in June. Can I ask my dealer to update the software if I cannot do it myself if so what exactly must I ask him to do?

Did you read vehicle after you coded to check value was correct?

My guess is you selected "Code" rather than "Code FDL."

Sure, you can update firmware yourself, though it requires an external power source and is riskier than coding. You can always ask; but unless they can document some kind of fault, you will have to pay for programming work.

Definitely FDL coded it as the main menu reverted back to "ID4 layout style". I had also activated VIM (up to 63kmph) and it retained these settings. If I had "coded" it would have been reset to the factory settings and I would have lost the VIM settings and the BMW Motorsport image at start up.

Was thinking of trying the full version of ID 6 but I don't have a touchscreen any reason not to try it?

So I guess I confused by what you are trying to accomplish.

You downgraded ID5 to ID4++?

ID6 does not display correctly. You only want to toggle between ID5 & ID6 Lite.

No I tried to upgrade to 6 Lite but the main menu display ended up looking like the layout of ID4 No large 3 "active" icons as expected. Tried ID6 and as you said the display sort of crashed and looked similar to what I got when I attempted to code ID6 Lite.

ID6 lite is not an upgrade. It is just a GUI skin over ID5.
I have never seen it not work. It should have 5-6 large "flat" rather than curved ID5 icons.

Yes, ID6 I have seen crash, look like ID4, or only display in a quarter of the screen.

Do I have to reboot the HU? to get it to display the new layout If so how do I do it? I vaguely remember someone holding in the power button plus something else for a few seconds?
