2016 340i shaking at high speed.
I have about 6000 miles and recently started to notice a shake at 70-80mph. Most noticeable when coming off the throttle, can be felt through the seats and steering wheel. Passenger also can feel it shaking.
I know its probably a wheel balance issue but I cant seem to find the missing wheel weight. None of the rims seem to be bent and I haven't hit any curbs. Is it possible to narrow down which wheel isn't balanced or is it better just to have them all balanced? I did plug a hole in the back tire, not sure if that could have changed the balance. Also noticed that I have a squeak coming from the wheels at low speed. Happens once a rotation and increases frequency as I speed up. Not sure if this is related.

Tires are surprisingly in good shape.

most likely due to wheel balance. last time I had shaking when there was ice built up in the wheel after snow donut.

Did you re-balance the wheel where you plugged the hole? If you didn't, I'd recommend you start there.
If the problem still persists, unmount and re-balance all tires - check for wheel movement while you have the car in the air as well (to identify hub bearing damage). Next check your brakes: pads, pad wear indicator, rotors. May be pre-mature brake wear or warped rotor but highly unlikely. If all else fails, you'd better get it to a dealer for inspection. |

Same issue here but no squeak coming from the wheels (3400 miles) when switched from stock Conti RFT to MPSS 245/40/18. Bought at Discount Tire, they found 1 tire off by 1/2 ounce and re-balanced all 4 but still have the same issue. Taking it to a local shop to inspect alignment and perhaps road force balancing

I would start by taking it to a reputable tire shop with up to date equipment and have the tires balance. Most likely the front. Ask them to watch and make sure the rim is true while it is spinning.

I just found out I can take in my car for service when indicator shows 2000 miles to go. Currently at 2000.
Will hopefully get this diagnosed along with the squeaking.

Will check that, recently took off the rear to plug. Was on the side of the road so I may have under torqued 1 of the bolts

I just noticed that the rear passenger tire was the 3-4 psi lower than all other tires. Could this have caused the the shake?

Is it consistently a shake at 70 mph?
Get your tires inflated to the same pressure and try again.. get that out of the way if still problems inspect the treads to see if even no bulging/depressions if so then its likely the tire if tires good then its likely off balance which is clued in on by consistent shakes at a certain speed.. get the balance checked if its not the balance then get BMW service to check it out |

Just got the car back from BMW after oil service and they said they couldn't find anything wrong aside from testing the balance. Braking system was our first thought since it only happened when coming off the throttle. They wanted 150$ for the balance so I said I'll just take it elsewhere for that.

I paid $150 forced road balance at a local import shop. I have also been playing with lowering tire pressure on all 4 moving closer to BMW psi listed.
