2013 328i Sport > 2015 335i M Sport
Hi All,
I absolutely loved my 2013 328i Sport (my first BMW) but traded up to a lease on a new 335i M Sport the other weekend and wanted to share my first impressions, especially for those who might be considering one model or the other: The engine. The power of the N20 in the 328i was impressive and it had the pull of a larger engine. However, the N55 is just a beast by comparison. There is always even more power, no matter the speed. Gas mileage. I do not have accurate numbers and it might just be my eager driving and that the 335i is still brand new but the mileage thus far seems to be significantly less than the 328i, which of course is to be expected considering the larger, more powerful engine. This is something to note if fuel efficiency is an especially important consideration. The sound. Unless the N20 was near redline, it did not really sound like what I would consider a BMW engine (rougher, almost diesel-like idle and high pitched wine under moderate acceleration). However, I can't seem to get enough of the engine sound in the N55. It is amazing and at least for car - enthusiast worth the added cost of the 335i alone. In fact, I love the sound so much that I want more and am even considering the M Performance exhaust in the future. If anyone has done the same and has any recommendations / thoughts / feedback on their experience, let me know! Tires. The 328i came with the Pirelli all-season performance tires which were just ok but the larger, wider Bridgestone mixed summer tires no the 335i feel much much better on a twisty road. Lighting package. My 328i had the standard halogens which were fine for me at the time but do not see myself ever going back to halogens even after just a few times driving the 335i with the xenons at night. The xenons light up the road so much better than the halogens and the adaptive feature where the lights follow the direction of the steering wheel is especially cool. In summary, I absolutely love the 335i which feels like an entirely different animal than the 328i. One that is sportier, more fun, and essentially 'more BMW.' Ideally, I would have waited for a 340i but the deal I got on the 335i was too good to pass by. Looking forward to putting more miles on the new ride and hopefully some track dates too. Happy driving! |

Got confused with the headline. "2013 328i Sport > 2015 335i M Sport" looks like you think the 328 is greater...
Anyways, I agree the 335i Engine is much better in all respects. I went the other way, E90 335i to F30 328i, and I didn't like the downgrade in engine. |

Congrats, glad someone reaffirms my choice to go with a 335i. I thought as a 16 year old less power would be fine but honestly the 335i is perfect mixture of fun

Congrats on the ride.
People will probably come into this thread ready to tear you a new one because at first glance, the title of your post sounds like "2013 328i Sport is better than a 2015 335i M-Sport". |

Oh, perfect! I just posted a question about getting into a 335. This helps!
EDIT: OK now that I've fully digested your feedback, I think that's exactly what I'm looking for, the famed BMW experience for my first BMW purchase. |

i think op used the > as going from-to rather than greater than. haha. havent been on the boards long but youd be hard pressed to find anyone saying the 28 is better than the 35. its essentially the same car witht the other one being slightly heavier, consumes a little more gas but clearly has more power.
