What is an exec demo? Sorry I am not aware of such cars? Where can I search?

That does bring up a point I failed to mention in my previous post. To the OP I would insist the service loaner be CPO'd, too; CPO Elite at the very least.
This is true but typically dealers won't CPO a car if it hasn't first been titled at least once unless you ask them, and then they'll want you to pay more.

It's pretty much what the name would imply, car driven by someone at corporate. Your dealer can look for them at auction, or you can look yourself by searching for used (not CPO) under 10k miles. If it's at a BMW dealer there's a good chance it's an exec demo. Similar to loaners, never titled so can be leased. Very good deals typically, depending on the model. 335GT that I looked at for dad was $60K car, discounted to $45K and leasing for $300 per month b/c the residual is based on the $60K. Unlike loaners they are not driven by a ton of people and beaten up. My GF has a 2014 fully loaded 328d xDrive that I got her for $375 per month. You wouldn't want to buy one at lease end (since the discount off MSRP doesn't translate into lower residual value) but for the $ they're awesome to drive for 3 years and give back before getting a new one. Great thing is you get a big discount, drive with warranty, then give it back and not have to worry about anything ever.

All that said with the pros of leasing, buying is still a good option if that's how you want to go. Again similar to loaner for discount but less to worry about.

I was int he same position two weeks ago. Went with the '13 CPO 335i instead of new 320 or newer Loaner 328.

We got a car with some really great options and CPO plus an extra year CPO and 25K miles as a monthly special. So we were happy with the deal. Loving the car so far.

Feel free to shoot me any questions.

But, typically, you don't really get an "extra" year of warranty on a conventional CPO vs a CPO Elite, because the Elite is usually newer. So, for example, a '13 CPO has a 6 year warranty expiring in '19 vs a '15 CPO Elite with a 5 year warranty expiring in '20.

And again, you say people abuse loaners. I say people baby them--neither of us have any support for this; just our respective opinions. If a buyer believes that loaners are abused, they obviously shouldn't buy one. I don't subscribe to that theory.
To each his own.

Hertz cars are also rented for substitutes for personal use, doesn't make them more appealing to buy. I agree with you that not all loaners are abused, but I certainly test them to see what I'm driving and compare it with my personal car.

Like I said, it also depends on the market. Here in SF, loaners take a beating. I much rather lease new or buy CPO which would have a straight forward history with better documentation via carfax.

I don't think my logic is faulted, I'm basing it my experience. Take it anyway you want.

Thank you all for your suggestions. Here is what I did -

Ended up leasing a new 2016 silver 328i for approx 535/month. ($535 as 1st month down payment, 10k miles/year for 36 months) - Yaaay!
Sports seats, LED headlights, 18” wheels with better tires, driver assistance package, rear view camera, paddle shifters(I guess that is standard with the 2016 model)

Feedback/suggestions for others considering a loaner - I test drove the 2015 loaner vehicle and it was "simply awesome". Did not feel like it was driven by 100s of people. It was in excellent condition. So I think, you really need to do your due diligence, drive it and inspect the condition properly. But I think loaners are a great option too, depends on the dealership/area and may be other factors. But this one was really nice, felt almost like a new car.

I ended up leasing the new(2016) car because there was very less price difference between the new and a loaner and we wanted the pleasure of driving a brand new car (wife’s decision as well).

I did not get a chance to look at the 2013 CPO vehicle.

There is a nice price depreciation calculator which I found, may be useful for some of the folks - http://www.free-online-calculator-us...alculator.html

I purchased a dealer service loaner that was 9 months old with 15k miles on it about 5 years ago. I've had no problems with it except the emissions system (335d). I dont treat loaners any different than my car, which is to say that I drive it hard but after it warms up. Obviously some people will beat on it, but most of the time its going to be cruising the highway.

Enjoy your new car!
