check eng light but all systems ok??

All,

Have you ever had the check engine light come on, but when you do a system test it shows all systems ok? I also did a check engine oil (measure) and it shows full - I've disconnected the black terminal from the battery for about 20 seconds and still the light is on... nothing seems to be broken - the car drives fine? but I've got to drive home tomorrow (another 300 miles) and just wondering what it could be?

oh and I've turned off the car a few minutes to see if that may help, but it's still on when I crank it back up....

Get a code reader.

Could be thermostat issue; had the same problem recently. I borrowed code reader from Advance auto found P0597 which is failed thermostat.
BMW has extended warranty to cover this problem.

Check your gas cap

the system check thing on your iDrive and the CEL are two unrelated systems. you need to get your car scanned.
