Harman Kardon Front Speaker/Tweeter Upgrade!

So after buying new window trim from BMW for £50 and paying £75 for 2 x Harman Kardon Mid front door speakers and 2 x tweeters from a breaker yard in Birmingham. I took the gear to my local fitter today (the same guy in Portsmouth who remapped my car, Pete from TCM Tuning) and paid him half hours work to do it all for me.

The sound improvement is so good over the old standalone stereo door speakers. Very happy I did this and managed to find the parts cheap. If anyone wants part numbers then here you go:

Window Trim Harman Kardon 51337323509 / 51337323510
Harman Kardon Tweeters: 65139226358
Harman Kardon Mids: 65139364956

(There are also old parts out there with different part numbers which will fit, I think BMW updated these some time in 2015.)

Crossovers are in the cable (tiny 6dB capacitor for tweeter highpass).

Hello,

im looking at the same exact speakers. Mine already have the tweeters but its the high fi model.

My car is a 2014 428i.

So, you were able to swap and just plug in to the same connector or was rewiring needed to be done?

No rewiring!

those harmen tweeters are very nice, well built and sound excellent. this coming right from the engineers mouth at jbl Andy Wehmyer, To due better tho I would go with a pair of audio frog tweeters.

sounds so much better just upgrading the speakers, I really want to install an amp though and some subs!

Anyone know a site i would be able to find these on? Im new to all this so I don't know which shops to check for these.

L7 subs on an amp don't disappoint. Serious competition for a sub in the back.

However if you don't opt for a sub in the back and amp L7 underseats then upgraded tweeters will be required as the HK will drown them out. The JL tweeters are great. Less tinny at high volume.

You should already have under seat subs but the lesser variant i.e. Not H/K

You can swap them out and add an amp. See here:
