M Performance Exhaust Install Question

Hello all; new to the forum.

I just purchased a 2014 435xi and this Friday I'm having the MPPK and MPE installed. Is there any reason I should have the dealer hold on to the original muffler for me? From what I've read here, many are happier with the new exhaust; so, I can't see why I'd want it...but before I just have the dealer throw it away I began to wonder.

That is, is there any use for it for anyone else? Is it compatible with other models?

Thank you for your help.

Tony

Personally, I hold on to all of my original parts for 2 reasons.

1. As long as you have the space, it never hurts to have a 'backup plan' for parts. In the event something happens to the MPPK and you need a quick fix.

more importantly:

2. You may get better value out of selling the part separately vs returning back the car with the specialty parts installed when you go to sell/trade.

The question is, is the potential value gained at the end by selling it, worth the time investment you would put in to remove the part, and then put it up for sale / shipping / etc.

People keep them and try to sell them for $150-$200 to people that want to modify the stock exhaust and need an extra or looking to mod their 4-cyl with one sided twin pipe to a dual pipe(one on each side)but if you actually want it to move I suggest $100-$150.

I couldn't fit mine in the trunk so I left it with the dealer.
