CG Precision VS-1 Exhaust + DR-1 4" race DP

Okay folks, I usually don't do product reviews on mods I do to my car. I just put it in my signature and keep it moving. When folks ask me specific questions about my mods, then I give a review of the product. I will make an exception here because I am over joyed by CG Precision's turbo back Exhaust system I had installed on my 2014 335i MSport last weekend. I still have a grin on my face. You'll have to kidnap my first born to wipe this grin off.

My goodness! I have never heared an exhaust system so "glorious" like a forum member put it. Okay, it does not sound like a Carrera GT or a Lambo, but the sound quality of the system is pretty darn close. I just want to put it out there that I am pretty conservative and I don't do things to the extreme, but with CG's system you have the versitility of sportiness and just plain bonkers..in a good way. For the conservative person that I am, I leave the exhaust flap open all the time because the sound is simply intoxicating.

When I first did the DP, I could instantly tell the engine is breathing much better and sounds throatier and deeper. Now the sound is out of this world with the complete system. Let me tell you, ever since I took delivery of my car back in December of 2013, I hardly evey used the paddle shifters and rarely even go in manual mode. I just put it in drive and hit the sport button every now and again for the extra kick. NOW, as soon as I start my car, I am hitting the sport button and going straight manual. I am down shifting my butt off every chance I get and stepping in the loud pedal. The sound this thing makes from 3k rpm and up is simply magical and decels? forget about it. Gurgles galore! Thanks CG for making my fuel mileage suck now because I can't stay off the damn loud pedal.

The quality of the product is also top notch. The bends are immaculate and fit and finish is simply sick! I had my tips Jet coated black and they look amazing. I had second thoughts before they were delivered, but I am extremely happy with my decision.

I also want to mention that you will not deal with anyone more professional than Jeff. I called this guy on a Saturday afternoon to confirm if the included adapter should be installed with the DR-1 DP or the factory DP because I was at the shop arguing with the tech. Jeff called me back within 5 minutes to provide me the information I needed. Now that is customer service for you.

Yeah folks, I am blown away by CG Precision's exhaust system and the company as a whole. If you are on the fence about this setup, GET IT! You will not be disappointed. Oh, did I mention no check engine light? I am on JB4 though. Now once I get my hands on the big snail(Pure stage 2), I won't feel so bad about not trading my left arm for that F80 .

Speaking as the forum member who described the sound as "glorious", I couldn't agree more with this review : )
Looking forward to adding a DR-1 to my car soon as well... Glad to see that you haven't had any CELs - these guys seem to really go above and beyond on R&D to build great products, so I'm actually not surprised.

Heh. There you are. Yeah man, you find this level of workmanship in high end exotics no lie. How I wish they made turbos too

I couldn't agree more! I have the same setup and fucking LOVE it, it definitely has the sound of an exotic. I raced my buddy in his 5.0 the other day (walked on his ass lol) and his first comment was how sick the exhaust sounded and he's a hard core American muscle kind of guy so I knew he was impressed. Just waiting for my Pure stage 2 to come in

Thanks for the post OP this will certainly be the next mod that I invest in. Just got Dinan Shockware and Spring installed yesterday So I'm going to wait a little or after my next close.

I guess this forum has been a bad influence. I'll have to retract my "conservative" position once I go PURE turbo and meth. Watching a 135i spank Z06s and freaking r8s. Who would not want to go there. Are you kidding? Am in the same city as Nate . Yeah, hearing this exhaust in person is the best way to go because videos don't do it any justice. 2nd gear 3k rpm overpass approaching...priceless!

Yeah, I stumbled upon a thread in here somewhere about you getting a Pure stage 2 turbo. We'll have to get together once you have that bad boy installed and dialed in. And thanks again because you are the reason I went the CG route.

I did mine and it was a breeze, the downpipe is really the only difficult part. As long as you don't mind banging a few knuckles it will save you a lot of money on labor costs.

I did the down pipe with the help of a friend in his drive way on jack stands. Let me put this it this way, I'll pay a shop if I have to do it again. Don't get me wrong, it's quite doable. There's just minimal space in there and doing it on the ground is torture as opposed to on a lift. I paid a shop $65.00 cash to install the exhaust. Yep, in H Town.

Thanks for the info. Im not yet sure if Im gonna get the DP, will it increase the sound noticeably? any down sides?
I've heard the system with stock DP and sounds good enough for me
