Normal Operating Temperature

Wanted to see what is the normal operating temperature for the F30 (328i). When I'm in Comfort mode, it's close to 200 (or 2 1/2 clicks pass 160) and in Sport, I'm very close to 250. When I had my coolant expansion tank replaced, I received a loaner and when in Sport mode, it did not get as close to the 250 mark as my car does, I would say it got close to 230. My BMW dealership said this was normal, even though my loaner didn't run as hot. Sorry if this has already been discussed. I have a 2012 328i.

Depends but spirited driving and a warm day it will climb towards 250.

Are you aware your temp gauge is oil temp, not coolant?
