Does the MPE have a Flap?
Does the M Performance Exhaust utilize an exhaust flap system like the OEM 335i muffler?
Im looking for an exhaust system that can be both quiet or loud when needed... having the flap operate by switch (using the JB4) is perfect. I've seen valved exhaust systems run at least $1500+ so a used MPE is also perfect for my budget. |

Negative, I think that will bump the sound way too loud especially on cold starts. If I get a DP it will definitely be catted, but that's way later, I'm happy with the sound right now.

you are probably right! I bet at catless DP with the MPE but keeping the stock resonator in would sound good though.

My exact set up. ER Catless with MPE and I left the resonator. Sounds great, sometimes I get a want for a little more rumble believe it or not. Cold starts are LOUD with this set up but will hopefully be better after BM3 and cold start delete.

I have catless + MPE + jb4 and no res delete and its perfect. good balance of quiet on comfort and amazing on sport+ WOT and burbles are always fun too. i guess all depends on what you want. do you wanna be ricey loud or have a more tamed sound when you punch it.
btw the smell sucks but thats the cost of catless

Guys. After months of researching and reading everyone inputs on the board (very helpful), I decided on going with the following set up:
2014 435 w/ PPK MPE Fabspeed catted DP (don't want CEL code) Had a local guy in the Seattle installed it for me. Super easy to do if you have a lift. The sound is amazing. Cold start up is loud. When you step on the gas, you can really hear the sound coming alive. the popping sounds is awesome. I can also hear the "hissing" sound of the turbo much better too.

^True that. Reminds me of the pre-1975 cars, when gasoline fumes literally filled the air in urban areas. I recently visited Havana, Cuba where they don't have any pollution laws or required equipment. It makes your head hurt and your eyes water, particularly when sitting in traffic in a convertible or other vehicle with the windows down. I think the colloquial term is "bad ju-ju".

Catless and MPE will satisfy most and provide a nice deep throaty sound but some will opt for a res delete, mind you if you do res delete and catless, your exhaust will sound more raspy or metallic. Some do like this and go with Catless, muff delete and res delete for more of that metallic sound.

i ended up going with the MPE axleback with a TopSpeed Catless downpipe as well as a resonator delete.... Cold starts are loud, for about 1 minute... using the JB4 to manipulate the control of the valve is a nice touch tho. i can have the valve open when im in comfort or eco. i do regret going with the res delete at certain times... mainly cold starts in my garage
