Bridgestone Ponteza s001

Hi I have recently switched from an f30 with 18" Pirelli cinarturo on a square set up too a mixed setup 18" Bridgestone Ponteza s001 on an F31 LCI I feel there is a massive increase in tire noise. Pressures are at recommend levels. Are the bridgestones bad for tire noise or is it just having an estate allows it too resonate round the cabin.?

I would be grateful for opinions.

The Bridgestone Potenza S001 RFTs are noisy tyres, period. I changed mine for Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 2s after 15,000 miles because I couldn't stand the tyre roar any longer. The Goodyears are quieter but the sound proofing in the doors and around the wheel arches in the F30/F31 is inadequate so a quieter tyre will only do so much - the car's biggest flaw, IMHO

Yes the Bridgestones stink. Especially in terms of noise. Lots of great summer tires that are quieter.

It's good to hear it's most likely the tyre issue. I will let them run in a bit hopefully they will improve ?

I know you're not in the US but if you can get on the US site tirerack.com they rate most of their tires in terms of performance quiet and comfort. It can be a huge help. Oh and their test vehicle is a F30 3 series

Mine didn't improve after 15,000 miles!!

Bear in mind that you will always get some tyre noise in the F30/31 cabin because of the poor sound insulation in the car. Changing to quieter tyres will only partially address the situation. That said, the Goodyear Eagle F1 AS2s don't react to different road surfaces as badly as the Bridgestones did

I don't know about the noise but the grip absolutely sucks on these tires. At first I had some respect for them but I never pushed them. I think they are covered in grease. Yep, pretty sure they are.

5k miles on mine and I am already seeing wear. I feel like the tires were made to wear out fast
