Connecting Samsung Note 3 using BMW Connected

What's up, just tried to connect my Note 3 to the BMW Apps in 2013 335i and I cannot establish a connection at all. I had a 2014 535d loaner last week and it connected to that car with no issues, any ideas, thanks?

It's not going to work.

First, you must have a 2014 model with NBT Nav and Apps. Second, your Android phone must be on 4.4 or higher. I don't think the Note 3 has the 4.4 update yet.

Will doing a software update cause me to
1) lose stuff saved on the cars memoriy (music, favorites, etc)
2) overwrite anything I have coded?

If by Software Update you are referring to the Bluetooth USB via Thumb Drive, then:

1) No.
2) No.

yes, this is exactly what I am talking about. If I do any updates from the USB drive.

But since you mentioned the differences, if I take it to the dealer for any sort of update, for example the ASS software that claims to make it "smoother"...will it overwrite my coding?

Description
This App is designed for use in your motor vehicle*. To use it, you require a BMW with a production date of July 2013 or later, fitted with the BMW ConnectedDrive Function 'BMW Apps' (depending on market and model, this is either the optional extra 6NR 'Apps' or is included as part of the 6AK 'ConnectedDrive Services'). *News, Last Mile and Wiki Local can also be used outside the vehicle.
Furthermore, for technical reasons, only the following smartphones are provisionally compatible with the vehicle: Samsung Galaxy S4 and LG Nexus 4/5. For more information regarding the compatibility of vehicle and smartphone, see: www.bmw.com/bluetooth.
To use the BMW Connected App in your BMW, connect the smartphone to the vehicle either using the snap-in adapter or the USB connection in the centre console and follow the instructions in the connection assistant.

It will wipe all of your FDL coding. I have heard though however, certain changes made to your vehicle order can remain like extended Bluetooth and Speed Limit Info.

If dealer programs your car, any ECU receiving new firmware, or encoded, will loose it's coding.

I have a 2014 BMW 328xi without BMW apps.... is there anyway to get this functionality?

I have been scouring the internet for the answer to this.

**Any** help or would earn my deepest gratitude.

All my best,
Matt

Do you have 609 Navigation Professional Option / NBT Head Unit?

Same problem here. I just picked up a note 3 to replace my old iphone 4s (dead battery).. apps were working fine on the iphone.. but it won't connect at all using the note 3.

I have the apps coded, combox, V42 firmware for CIC loaded.. all was fine with the iphone.

So, I've put my iphone in my armrest, and turn on hotspot on my note 3 to enable wifi.. and all works that way.

Pretty sucky though!
