Getting dynoed today, what gear for MT?

Manual tranny 335i, can't find info on best gear for dyno. I'm hoping to get a dyno of JB4 in maps 0, 1, and 5 to see the differences between them.

5th gear I believe is ideal since it is 1:1, but I think people often do 4th as well. Consistency is the main concern.

Always did 4th pull in my end!

Thanks guys, we did 4th. Unfortunately my map 5 was acting up and spiking like crazy. I sent the logs to Burger but here's map 0 and 1.

It was also 95 F-ING degrees

Two things with an MT you want to dyno in 5th its a 1:1 ratio. 4th adds in a mechanical advantage that distorts the numbers.

If you want to dyno Map 5 you need to do it first after you come in off the street & have been running it for a while.

As soon as you switch out of Map 5 it forgets all its settings & has to be recalibrated.

A quick & dirty method to get close is 3 or 4 WOT runs starting in 2nd gear @ 2500 & running into 4th gear shifting at your normal "race" RPM for an upshift.

That's good info. I did map 5 first since that's the one I went there in. Unfortunately I had outdated firmware so we couldn't do accurate pulls in map 5. I've ordered cp and dp so I'll dyno again in about two weeks and I'll do 5th gear
