You mean you are not tempted by the full carbon fibre bonnet?

I actually like the idea of the Carbon Hood, maybe thats because I still play Gran Turismo on my PS3!

The way the front splitter air scoops tilt upwards on the F30 looks off to me, but it's all personal....heck I sort of like the X4 still!

Do you mean open the boot?!

Also i don't think the boot lid would open automatically any more, mine struggles with the boot lip spoiler!

Ah yes sorry, my typing is terrible on an iPad normally, but out last night too = good luck reading that chaps!

See what you're saying though extra weight right on the edge of the boot stops the auto opening. Hmmm have you had a look at the 1 series threads. TOTALLY different kit in the mechanism I'm sure but for the heavy 1 series hatch there is a mod thread to adjust the release so that even that opens on its own and without a motor...doubt it's that big an issue for you of course but just thinking out loud

So are you saying there could be a way of adjusting the strength of the opening mechanism?

Yes, its been done on the 1 series, which is of course a hatch...but I would think it must be possible?

EDIT: Here we go I found it, just thought it was quite clever, maybe someone will come up with a similar solution on the 3 series .... http://www.babybmw.net/viewtopic.php?f=29&t=24026

And sorry WAY OFF THREAD...just my overly helpful/distracting nature

On about boots, hatches etc and way off thread.

Yesterday old bloke along road from me, decides to reverse his small hatchback full of bags of compost, up his drive to his car port thing. However he had the hatch open and preceded to hit top of his car port thing and bend hatch back.

Since he is a grumpy twat, I had a laugh

Hmmm, that a guide on how to get the manual opening boot on 1 series to open automatically!

And the F30 has a completely different mechanism, it has springs instead of gas lifters.

If it looked a bit more OEM in shape then I'd be interested how much weight you'd save with one of these. Just because I drive an eco friendly tree hugging Hybrid you understand.

Was thinking the same: carbon bonnet & boot, sprayed/wrapped same colour as the car...got to be worth at least 2mpg?
