FBO jb4 map 4 no boost target?

Hi guys,

So i'm presently FBO (435i automatic RWD EWG)
Catted ER DP, ER CP, CTS intercooler, Borla Catback, BMS intake.

Made a few logs and car can't hit 10 psi on map 2, and on map 5 can reach 13.8 psi. Targe ton map 5 is close to 17 psi, but the target on map 2 is only 6 psi.

I've sent the car to the garage to make a pressure test and smoke test, no boost leak, nothing! On log on the map 5, PWG is at 99% on WOT, but on map 2 it's at 0.

Made a log on map 4 to see if it was a jb4 problem, and on map 4, car was reaching 8 psi but target was at 0.4 psi?! WTF? lol Also PWG stayed at 0%.

Anyone can help here?

Thanks!

Map4 is tuning disabled, since no boost is added to stock, the target will reflect 0.

So I should do a map 0 log? To see the stock log?

Well, car is not hitting 14.5 psi on map 2...I can barely hit 11 psi.. I'm FBO with 94 octane. On map 5 I'm hitting 13.8 psi on wot.. I've sent log to terry who told me everything is fine... witch I think it's not..

This may be a silly questions, but there is no mention of you having the EWG cable installed. Do you have that? Continue reading if you don't..........

Prior to me installing the EWG cable, I could not boost past 14lbs. It turns out that the DME has greater control of the WG than on PWG F30s. Once I installed the EWG cable on my EWG enable F30, the JB4 managed the WG better. Boost is now in the 17-19lbs levels when I run high octane fuel.

Ok..seems to be the key then...I've ordered the EWG connector. waiting for them to install it. This is what terry told me.. So we'll see!! What map are you running with EWG connector? and what octane are you using?

Glad your response was NO to having the EWG cable. This somewhat offers a solution to your boost limitations. Make sure the shop which installs it, does a good job of insulting it from the turbo. It's very hot where it's located. I ended up using wire flex loom to cover the entire cable as I've seen where it's melted other's EWG wiring.
As far as octane goes, I run 4 gallons of e85 and 9.5 gallons of 92 which gives me roughly 94 octane.

Yeah! Between the 2 messages, I've just received the EWG connector at my door haha! I was wondering If there is any how to to install it? Like where is the WG connector? How to we fix it in the JB4..

Wow, that's amazingly quick! Yes, you can install it yourself. Take a look at the following link:

http://www.n54tech.com/forums/showpo...&postcount=539

If you have a manual, it's easy. However, if you have the ZF8 like myself, you're in for a world of fun. LOL. It's doable: you'll need a long thin tool which has a pointy curved end to it to unclip the EWG plug. Take your time and make sure the vehicle is COLD. Once that's plugged in, then you'll have to connect the wire to the JB4.

Again, just use the link I posted above as a reference. In all honesty, it's an easy job, but just very tedious if you have the ZF8 tranny.

I've already looked at the n54tech forum to see how install it...Ok i'm probably really noob here, but can you indicate where is the waste gate connection? and, the blue and purple wire, where do i plug them? this is my other noob question...

The EWG connector is located right where the turbo is. You'll see a black "box" which looks like it's connected onto the turbo. That black box is the actual WG. Look for a connection with a wire that's about 4mm thick. That's the cable you want to disconnect and attach the EWG cable to.

For the blue and purple wire, they will connect directly into the JB4 module. Just use the link I provided as a reference so it will make more sense.

No do a map 5 or map 6 log if you are trying to set up custom boost prams. Map 4 is for logging only without added boost
