pure 850 blew up b58
just posting this as a general notice, i recently put on the pure 850 turbo from pure turbos and it rand amazing for about 2 weeks and then today as i’m driving in cruise control i just hear a loud squeal. got to a safe location and took apart my air intake piping and guess what i find. the compressor wheel nut came off and my whole turbo is shot. i’m going to send it back for warranty which i heard is like 50/50 if they will warranty it or not. this is very annoying as i will probably have to wait a long time for them to hopefully approve the warranty and then send out another. has anyone had this happen or gone through the warranty process with pure? thanks!

Damn dude that sucks. Hopefully they honor the warranty. A turbo shouldn't just fall apart like that.

nikkof30 Obviously there will be a lot of attention to this thread in coming days given the interest in this new series of turbos Bimmer owners have waited for over 5 years for.
As you are a new member without a build thread and I am only interested in the details surrounding this will you please supply more detail. Who installed this? Tune or other supporting parts installed? Testing? Tune, who/which custom or off shelf? Did you dyno it before it blew? Or any logs during use? Stock intake or aftermarket? Any other info to digest. Let me be clear. Not assigning blame on you. Just trying to understand what happened and everyone is interested is this a one off bad unit or something to watch out for. Please keep us updated as well. |

Have you examined the MST Filter closely to look for any signs debris could have been ingested? Also do you have MHD or any data logs showing airflow that can be shared? |
