how long should 18" performance run flats last?

just curious, I am about to start a 36 month lease (36K miles), and will be using winter tires for around 14-15K of those, so about 22K miles on the performance summer run flats. Do you guys think I will be able to turn the lease in without a tire charge or will they need replacements by 22K miles? I know a lot depends on driving style, I am not racing stop light to stop light or taking corners at full speed but do like to occasionally have fun.

The reason I am asking is that I would prefer Michelin Super Sport tires as I had them on my C63 and loved them, but don't feel like putting down $1,000 for just a little added performance. However if I am going to need to get new tires before the lease is over, I would rather drive on the Super Sports now, then put the stock tires back on before trading it in...
Also this is all wheel drive, so the tire wear in the front and rear will probably be more even.

Your right, it all depends on driving habits. I could not make it the whole lease...

even with swapping out winters?
I have a feeling I will get 20,000 miles or so before they "should be" changed which means before the lease is over!

Really thinking of swapping out the run flats for Michelin Super Sports, driving it hard in the summer, then putting back the OEM run flats before I turn in the lease... Just sucks to buy two sets of tires (winter plus extra summers) on a 36K mile lease for a car that only has 300 horsepower. And I am already storing 2 sets of winters in my garage, now I would have 3 sets of tires! my wife would kill me (2 car garage).

how winter are we talking? as long as you are not actually using studded you should be able to drive a bit of fall/spring on them and save the rft's but really what is entertainment worth to you.. personally I enjoy driving. my goodyears are doing very poorly but I have about 140 minutes of track time on them but even then, they wear poorly for a 340 treadwear tire.

If you drive very easy you should make it 20k miles with proper rotation. I would say just put whatever tires you want on it now and put the originals on a few thousand miles before the lease ends.

I think I made my decision (also started another thread on it). Going to put snow tires on the OEM 400M wheels, use those for 3 seasons, buy some 19" aftermarket wheels and put Super Sport tires on them to use for the next 2 summers, then switch the 400M wheels back to the performance run flats for a summer before turning it in, very complex I know, but in the end that will mean not having to pay anything to replace the run flats at lease turn in, getting 19" summer wheels with the tires I really want and still having 18" for the winter. then I can just sell the winter tires (should only have 15K miles on those) and maybe still use the 19" on a future car...

Did you track it? Or just drive it hard all the time? I got more than that in my C63 which is notorious for eating tires.

With the staggered sports I can't rotate the tires. On the '09 335i I turned in I made it on the original tires with 41k miles on them but hit the wear indicators at that point. Over the course of the lease I had my share of "spirited" driving and drifting, but not to excess. So with reasonabe driving, you may be needing tires after the 36k miles but more likely you may not.
