Hi fellow HK F30 drivers, just wanted to send a word of caution out to those who use Challenger or other carwashes. After washing your car, they typically park it somewhere in the parking lot. I was unlucky and the car wash guy got crashed into by a women while parking my car. It's been like 1 month now and finally, my car is beginning to get fixed.... will be another month till I see it again.

Does anyone know if the Smartphone connectivity kit has a plug for the iPhone 5 as standard in HK?

Don't buy a 320i, you will regret it. It will be harder to sell when you change your next car. My suggestion if you dont want to spend so much is buy the 316i then put a TMC Chip (Less than HK$4K)

Thanks for the heads up and I am sorry to hear about your car. Which Challenger were you at ?

I normally go to the CWB or Tai Koo one, which they tend not to move the car much.

Yeah I know what you are saying about the 320i. The 328i i'm being offered has an interior that i am not crazy about, black with red highlights but the exterior is nice, mineral grey. I saw the stock list and there are only 2 choices. I like the black but it's that red stripe across the dash....

Engine noise

U mean when it's idling? It's normal cos the car uses direct fuel injection. Most, if not all, cars using petrol direct injection have a diesel-like ticking sound when idling.
Just got car back from BMWHK, and found the source of the problem. I was getting excessive engine ticking noise from 1000 to 3000 rpm when cruising. The engineer traced the problem to bad engine / compartment sound insulation and now resolved.

Is it very difficult to change the dash trims later? I've seen some members on the forum do so.

Do the seats also have the red stitching?

Surely doesn't look too bad?

What's the other option on the stock list?

The trims are not hard to swap. The seats with read seams are an aquired taste.
Btw, I heard that BMWHK is looking to sell the 320d in HK (yes, 320d) & the govt has also approved Mazda 6 2.2D & VW Passat TDI for sale in HK.

I used the challenger in Festival Walk in Kowloon Tong. I think it's just unlucky but the fact is they had a very young and inexperienced driver drive my car. Oh well, c'est la vie.

I went to BMW and had a look at a 328i Sportsline. The car I sat in was black with a red interior, which I really liked, except they don't have any in stock.

So then they showed me a car in mineral grey and it's a really nice colour. Also showed me another car with the black leather and red stitching. You're right it is an acquired taste, but I don't think it looks too bad and is something I could live with. At least if I really hate it later, it's not something a black marker pen can't fix

Tbh I don't really love the red line on the dash either. But I guess this can be changed later too with a simple wrap or something.

In fact I liked what I saw enough to put a deposit down for what I was told is the very last 328i Sportsline available for $499k. (sorry if I bought the car u were interested in Gedz ) I don't know if he fed me a salesman line to get me to sign on the line but if it is true, I'm wondering if I got a good deal? $499k + $6127 for license fee. He said he'd give me $2000 in petrol cards (up from original offer of $1000) and also a free bmw umbrella and extra floor mats

It's the first time I've ever bought a car in hk and I'm a bit disappointed I didn't get any more off the price. In Australia, it's quite easy to squeeze some more off the price just by asking nicely

There were 2 exactly like the one you describe and I was offered it for the same price. I can't get by the fact that it is not exactly what I want so I won't buy it. I am going to wait a little because I'm convinced they will need to bring in the 3 series iED or diesel to get the price down.
Yes and unlike in OZ they don't seem to care if they sell at all, no competition....

Yeah I know what you mean about not buying exactly what you want. Good for u for not falling for the sales pitch

I bought because it is close enough to what I would order anyway if I really had to choose, and because it is quite a bit cheaper as is than if I was to order a new car exactly to my spec and pay full price.

My friend only told me today after I told him that I ordered a car that BMW quite regularly have sales where can pick up cars for quite a bit off rrp. Is this true?

Ur car is already discounted cos rrp is sth like $550k. As usual, sales events are for cars already in HK or have fixed spec that's already in production or in transit.
Usually sales events are for models that have already been on the market for a while, for the F30 it's due to the expiration of EFV tax rebate.

It's a fair deal, the car was cheapest at HK$479k when they had the EFV tax rebate. It's impossible to get the EFV tax rebate.

Yeah my friend bought his for $479k so I was hoping I could get more off the $499k but failed to do so.

Sales person didn't seem to car whether I bought the car or not and claimed he had other interested buyers with cheques in hand...more sales talk I suppose but nevermind I've signed on the line already now haha not much I can do about it

479k was due to the 75k efv tax rebate, so for them their profit margin is lower when selling at 499k.
