F30 335i MSport arriving in a few weeks. First thing to do: debadge. If you don't get it, you'll never get it, and I'll never get you (and I don't want to).

I'll be doing it soon enough to my 328i. I am just used to, and prefer, the clean trunk look. (Ps - anybody make a black-and-white rondel? It's the only bit of blue on an otherwise entirely black/red car.)

Debadging is a form of modding for those that don't like the stock look. There are Posers who debadge and/or rebadge to make the car look like something it's not. But not all people who debadge are posers.

The people who care are also the people who know, so debadging and/or rebadging for the "image" is virtually pointless because those people are going to laugh at you for being a moron. The only people who are going to be convinced that your 335i M-sport is actually an M3 are uninformed about the distinction anyways, and if all you're concerned with is tricking dumb people (or those who think Times Square is the most magical place in all of Manhattan), then you like cheap thrills and you probably don't know what it means to drive a BMW.
That said, if debadging is your thing--be it for detailing purposes or for the cleaner look--do your thing. |

I can't believe some of the opinions on here. Its your car do what the hell you want with it. I don't think people are trying to make their car appear as a 335i by removing the rear badge. A person that knows BMW will recognize the difference anyway so who are they really trying to fool? If you have a 335i its because you chose it the same way the person chose the 328i. Who besides children really gives a flying f@#$ what other people think?

If we wanted a 335, we would have bought one. Its not like it costs much more (and its only marginally more capable in a straight line).

b) Apples-to-apples, its about a $3k delta. On a $50k car, that amounts to 2-3 less Starbucks visits a month. If one can afford a 328, one can afford a 335. Not that I'm speaking for other people of course.

I ordered mine de-badged. I just prefer the uncluttered look and don't want to shout any louder. It's already EBII with Superman seats FFS

I almost debadged the 335i. But, in fears bags of douche might think I was an M3 imposter, and then they'd chime in with their opinions of me, and I'd have to kill them...I decided it was best to leave it be. Not really. I would like to debadge it, but I'm too lazy, and my wife might complain. So stock it stays.

I ordered mine debadged. Why?
1) I think it looks much better. 2) Easier to detail. 3) What is the point in proclaiming exactly what model it is to everyone? I bought the car for myself, I don't care what others think. ...and to address the (extremely silly) original question: Mine is an F31 328. Which means it IS the top of the line model (unless you count the 330d). So if anything my reason would be the opposite: I don't mind at all if my neighbors think it's a "lesser" model (320i, 316d etc.). It's already "shouty" enough as it is.

Why would any 328i owner want to trick people into thinking that he's driving a heavier, slower car made in Africa? It's the other way around. 335i owners would debadge so that others think they're driving the lighter, faster car made in Germany. BJ |

I really hate when ppl here say that 328 is lighter, i really wonder if anyone could notice the difference of 145 lb in regular city/highway driving, that difference of 145lb doesn't do shit for regular driving, the only difference you would notice if you didnt know what you were driving would be the sound of the engine, exhaust and the power and not 145 lb

Are you serious.. 145lbs is very noticeable in our cars.
Yes the 335 is very powerful but they are different driving cars.

Basically, Roki has the superior car. Can we have some m3 guys chime in and bash the 335s? Not like its some super car or THAT much better than a 328. Gees.
