Drove over a decent sized rock
Was driving about 40 mph on a somewhat busy road when I see a rock that was big and i had to drive over it. Approximately a 6 inch by 6 inch or so probably bigger. Couldn't stop in time or go to my left or right. I have a 2013 6 spd f30 335xi, so it's lower than I anticipated because the rock was kicked up. The cars in front of me didn't hit it so I thought I would be okay. Two loud bangs. Drove the car home fine for the next 10 to 15 minutes and checked underneath for any visible damage. Nothing. Should I be worried for anything. Obviously it depends where the two bangs were to closer diagnosis any issue. It's a rainy day here in new York so I couldn't lay and touch parts to see. Any advice, help would be nice. Thanks !

I would get it on a lift to have a good look. Best of luck. Sometimes cars bless us with good luck.

Yeah I'd check that out. Look for any fluid leaks too.
I've had two run-ins with rocks that size on the road. One time I hit it with a Nissan Z, shredded my front tire and whacked out the alignment. Another time it was on the highway and the guy in front of me in the next lane hit it, threw it up in the air and it landed directly on my windshield going around 75MPH. KABOOM..it almost broke all the way through the safety glass. |
