ever see those videos over the years showing bmw engineers being very anal about sound spending like countless hours tuning the exhaust... what the heck are they doing when 'stock' sounds so mundane???

I can't answer this definitely but I have an idea. Take a look at the installation instructions and photographs for the Akrapovic exhaust.

http://az79640.vo.msecnd.net/akrapov...1f27bf4833.pdf

You will notice that the original stock single pipe gets flattened where it goes under the supporting brace. The twin pipes allow for much better flow without interference. It is interesting that the BMW floorplan design allows for a lot of space for a twin pipe installation. I bet that is for the upcoming M3 exhaust which will share the same platform.

If you look at the stock exhaust compared to the Akrapovic exhaust - the much higher quality is pretty evident.

I for one am happy to fork out the bucks for this system - I have one on order and I am looking forward to its installation. Modifications to a car are never an investment grade usage of money - it is an emotional purchase.

true story... You never get back the money you spend on it.
Just hope you stick with the same car and just upgrade year and put the mods that are removable into the new car. Now thats investing smart lol...

I cannot wait till my lease is up and I can get a 335i msport. Msport brakes, Mperformance suspension, MPPK, M performance lip and spoiler, and the Akrapovic Dial exhaust... that will be one mean car.

reading the description on whats included in the ppk package, it does come with an ecu tuning software.
if that is the case then your wrong. it will not change back to the stock characteristics after the install.

the whp and wtq numbers will definitely be different from car to car even with the same software and car model. that is just the nature of tuning cars in general.
