Lightning adapter
Has anyone come up with a solution for the y-cable lightning adapter. My 2014 435 will charge with the y-cable and lighting adapter but will not read the ipod part. Says not connected. The adapter I got was from Amazon, seems to work since it charges the phone?

It sounds like a pat answer, but there really is sensitivity to cables with iDrive. For example, with my iPod Classic 160, it will only work with an old iPod cable with the locking connector. If I use a new iPhone cable, it does the connect/disconnect thing. If I connect an Apple 30-pin to Lightning adapter cable on the end of the old style cable, newer iPhones do the connect/disconnect thing. I have to use either an authentic Lightning cable or a newer 30-pin cable with the Apple Lightning converter cable. Last edited by Fronzdan; 10-06-2014 at 09:15 AM.. |

Non-lightning phones (4S and older) can natively use the regular Apple cable (30 pin)
Lightning phones (5 and newer), it's trickier: - If you have technology package or enhanced bluetooth, you can natively use the regular Apple cable (lightning) - If you don't, you have to use the BMW Y cable. |

That's guys the issue was the cheap lighting adapter that was not an apple product. I ended up purchasing an authentic adapter and this solved my problems
I don't have advanced Bluetooth so I need the Ycable. |
