Car in for warranty work
Dropped my car off at the dealers this morning for some warranty work, One case being when i drove over an indentation in the road or hit a small pothole, sometimes even happened on speed bumps Id get a "clunk" sound from the drivers side suspension area, I remember reading a thread on here about this clunking sound before, Took the technician for a quick drive this morning and couldn't get the clunk sound to appear (Always happens to me when trying to show a noise to a mechanic) Anyhow he said he would take a look, Just had a phone call from them and they are fitting a new steering rack tomorrow as they believe there is too much "play" in the rack and causing this clunk sound.
Other issues that got fixed were, A rattle coming from the air filter housing box, That got sorted by replacing rubber mounts it sits on they said. When i pressed the max button on the heater controls the fan would make a very loud "droning" kind of sound from behind the dash, They said it was leafs or something got into the system and they put a modified weighted grill piece in under the bonnet to stop this. Drivers window stopped working, Turned out needed a new window regulator. Just about sums it up at the moment i think. |

I'm taking in my 4 weeks old M135i to fix a recurring drivetrain error, not impressed at all with BMW, the 335d had a busted heater, the 435i had cooling fans that run at full speed and wouldn't shut down until you restarted the car and now this, all I can say is I won't be buying another BMW in a hurry

My dads F30 320d had that clunking noise. It took 4 trips to the dealer before they finally got BMW to change the steering rack. At least its fixed now. Hope this sorts yours too!
