after finally spending a drive at night with my car and thinking i didnt have the lighting package.....turns out i do but its EXTREMELY dim. I have the lighting turned up to the max and its still barely visible. I was hoping the door lights would be a little brighter

Yea I think BMW definitely dimmed them down a bit since the older models. It used to always be very obvious, now it's like your eyes have to adjust to the dark for a second before you notice them.

Having a subtle ambient lighting is more classy. I had this in my CLS, and it is just an excellent finish. I think the brightness is just right. I suppose you could switch out the LED's to make it more bright

No I think i'm with you. I totally get why they toned it down a bit. It looks great, just the first time I noticed it I was curious and had to get used to it a bit cuz I did always love that ambient lighting. I will have no intention on trying to make them any brighter.

Ambient lighting for 2016 340
I can't seem to find any good information on the ambient lighting in the 2016 340. Pictures I find only seem to show ambient light behind the center stack and the footwells but I've seen pictures of slightly older 3 series with ambient light for the center console and running along the inside of the doors. Does anybody know where I can find more info about all of the ambient light locations in the 2016 340i? I have an M sport on order...

I can't speak to other interiors, but the "classic" ambient lighting looks excellent with saddle brown because the orange-ish hue really complements the brown leather. White light is very neutral, so I feel like most interiors would look better with the classic lighting but it's personal preference of course.

Is everyone aware that the interior lighting level is also controlled by your dashboard thumb wheel lighting control - so you may have interior lighting turned up high but also have your dashboard way down low which might be making your lighting g look dimmer?
Mess about with the two together to get to your ideal lighting levels ? |

Just found the lighting setting yesterday. I was driving home from work in the bright summer sun, so I didn't mess with it, but I was sure curious.
I'll have to check it out tonight. |
