I drove in comfort for the first 2000 and barely rev'ing over 4000 if ever.
Since then, it's 95% Sport mode and definitely rev'ing to 5000rpm more. it's made me appreciate the car and the engine more and not feel such a downgrade from the E60 545i I traded in. |

Isn't the break in 2000 miles, meaning 3218.69 KM!

Nice try boys...you'll just have to wait and see. They should arrive next week, but might get them the week after. Can't wait. I will post up some pics for sure. Per the manual it's 1200 miles or 2000 kms. So...revved over 4000rpms for the first time today at lunch while picking up my sub. Power is smoother than I expected and not as "throw you back in your seat" as my modded '04 Subaru was. That said the car gets up to speed quickly. Seems there's no point in letting the tach hit the red line as engine pull seems to fall off before you get there - around 6800 - a safety thing maybe? I am on winter tires so cornering blows right now, but even with the car lowered on the H&R's...I still feel like there is some body roll. I can't imagine how bad it is at xDrive stock height. Might have to look into some sway bars and a cross brace, but no idea if that would help. Does anyone know what (if anything) is on the car already in that regard?? |

I did 1600ish for break in. Had to do it all before Nurburgring. Not really a chore though, 1600kms in southern Ontario is torture, in Europe its a treat.
Now that you're done where are you taking it? I heard Mosport is getting work done and there won't be many track days this year... |

Yeah, I was out there last year and they were talking about the work they had planned. Since Canadian Tire got involved with the place I've heard they are going to fix it up. I know they have done some resurfacing already. My buddy takes his bike there on a regular basis and has been bugging me to do the same so I was going to do that this year. Shannonville is too short for cars, I don't mind it on the bike if they have the long track open. I was thinking I might take the car and the bike up to Calabogie near Ottawa, but I will have to get some proper rims/tires for the track if I do that (for the car). Prob some TE37s as they stand up well under track abuse.
Any other track suggestions? |

I really want to go and will if I can find out when. I've been to Grand Bend raceway a couple times, it's pretty cheap. Not very long but you can get up to around 190 on the back straight, probably 200 if you're actually good at track driving. I'll probably do that a couple times this year. It's convenient for me as I can pop up there on a weeknight and get a bunch of laps in for like 50 bucks. If there were 10-20 guys on the forum willing to take a day off work I would consider renting out a track somewhere. Cayuga and Grand Bend in particular are pretty cheap on weekdays. |
