I have a July 2013 build that I recently picked up as a CPO. It was NBT_H14163B and I can also confirm that the 5062 update worked fine.

Before:
MN-002.045.001
TN-002.045.001

After:
MN-002.255.060
TN-002.255.062

The only issue I was having before was that the Siri activation from the voice button wasn't reliable. I haven't had a chance to try it yet post-update.

I had my dealership upgrade my Integration level and then it took the update.

It's the 5062 version and my IOS version is 8.1.2

If its any consolation, its been 1.5 years since BMW announced Android support for NBT. Yet Android is still poorly implemented, compared to iPhone.

Android amounts to over 2/3 of the worlds smartphone market, yet BMW continues to pretend like everyone has an iPhone. Or, maybe Apple is paying them to do so....

I resort to Bluetooth as I get better music support that way. pathetic.

Strange, yet good, turn of events regarding my inability to search a USB-connected iPhone 6 Plus after getting my I-Step flashed by my dealer.

My father in law came into town, with a 2013 328i xDrive. Of course it only has CIC, but I tried my phone in his car. He mentioned his car had recently been serviced/updated by his dealer. Sure enough, same problem in his car - could not search via iDrive for artist/albums/songs, etc. If I could actually select an album, hitting play would do nothing. Album art might come up, but progress bar would be stuck at 0:00.

Two days ago, I tried my iPhone again in my car.. but this time it worked as expected! I did not change anything on my phone, no updates, had previously rebooted, etc. Just to make sure, I've tried my iPhone 3 days in a row, and it still works as I expect. I also tried in my father in law's car, and it works there too.

TL;DR - the iDrive/iOS 8.x "search" problem is an issue with the iPhone/iOS. Rebooting may help?

Can someone who had their integration/istep level updated by the dealer post the wording on the work-order? It might help some of us explain this to our local service department in a way that they can better understand, as this doesn't seem to be a common request. Thanks!

None of the work order jobs on my invoice specifically mention updating I-Step.

The closest thing is:

Software error - program and code control units.

But this is related to SI 120214 for a fuel shut off valve recall, I guess the I-Step update happened as they "fixed" the recall. None of the other jobs were related to software/reprogramming.

The I-Step is rarely printed in the documentation you take home. For warranty work, dealers need customers to sign a larger sized work order that came from the tech that has everything but the kitchen sink.

Somewhere inside will tell you the current I-Step and if an update is available. Just tell your SA that you want to poke around the work order a little before signing it. I do it all the time and its quite an interesting read...for an engineer.

I just returned from my appointment for my 2014 BMW 328i (built in July 2013). My new NBT software version is NBT_I (I think I was at NBT_B before). I was not able to apply the software update (UPD05062) prior to the appointment. Here are the version numbers I had along the way:

Beginning:
MN- 2.33.2
TN- 2.34.1

After dealership upgrade:
MN- 2.49.3
TN- 2.49.3

After applying UPD05062:
MN-2.255.60
TN- 2.255.62

It seems to have fixed Bluetooth audio streaming problems, specifically with updating track titles and album art when switching songs in Spotify. Hopefully it fixes the problems where Bluetooth randomly disconnects too. Totally worth a few hours of time at the dealership! Thanks to everyone who contributed to this thread...I'm beyond excited

Same here (also went from nbt_b to nbt_i). My dealership was very good about accommodating my request for the update, particularly since the bluetooth issues were easily reproducible.

Many thanks to those who contributed info in this thread so I could describe the necessary updates to my SA!

I wonder if we'll ever get connecteddrive-app functionality over bluetooth?

I went to this link, put in my VIN, tells me update 5011 and 5004 are available:

each option specifies different build dates. the only update corresponding to your build date is UPD05062. same as mine (I have a 2015 Gran Coupe)

my old iPhone 4 worked flawless via Bluetooth and USB. i just upgraded to an iPhone 5s (work phone) and now my scroll wheel doesn't want to work with music. I also noticed this on my son's iPhone 5s.

i downloaded UPD05062 to a USB thumb drive that I know works. I plug it into my car and the iDrive says "no software updates found"

any recommendations? i'm bummed my scroll wheel for music isn't working. i can see the songs, can click a new song and get a check mark, ... and then nothing happens/changes. it worked perfectly before on my iPhone 4.

I have a 2014 335i Xdrive built in August 2013 with Connected Drive. Everything seems to work fine. When I check the iDrive firmware version under Nav/Options/Softwareinfo it says: NBT_B13185A which I assume is the version that came with the car.

A bit confused by some of the posts reporting that NBT_G or higher is needed to apply any of these upgrades. Does anyone know if update version UPD05021 that would seem to apply to my build date would work. And is worth doing if it works. I've been using an iPhone 5s and 6 on IOS 8.1.2 without any glitches.

It's hard to believe a car that was delivered a year ago wouldnt accept an update that seems designed for the build dates referenced. If an NBT update is needed and the dealer won't do it for free that will be pretty disappointing.

Haven't yet tried to stream music from iPhone since I now have some kind of problem with the phone's Bluetooth. First it didn't start, I reseted the phone and know if just won't find any device. The car, other phones or a bluetooth speakers. I will restore everything and try again.

Before I update, will this mess anything up in my car? I'm nervous when it comes to these things and I want to be sure that this file is correct before I proceed.

If you are unhappy with the update, you can roll back to previous. Its in the iDrive menu.
