Anyone have a PDF of the BMW procedure that runs through the retrofit? I swear I saw it before but no luck finding it now. Would appreciate it if you could send it my way.

Hey guys. So finally got around to doing the retrofit, just did the rear brakes today and have a question. For any of you guys that did this on their 328i, did you need new hardware for the e-brakes? I initially put the adjuster screw on the smallest setting to make reinstall easy, and once I got the rotors on there I started adjusting/stretching the adjuster spring. I adjusted the driver's side to what seems to be the max it will extend to, and the ebrake is still not grabbing onto the rotor at all. I do see the new rear rotor hats are about 1cm wider than the old ones, maybe the e-brake hardware I have won't stretch out that much? Appreciate any input.

Think I figured it out, I probably got the rear rotors for the larger wheel bearing in my set.

Did my install of M performance brakes this past weekend...Love the look of these...makes the entire car look better than the stock small calipers that came with my car.

Thanks! I love the look. Someone rolled down their window the other day at a traffic light and said...love your car and the brakes!

Installed M Performance Brakes on my F31 today! My biggest challenge was getting the lug studs off. Effing Sears had them well over 200 ft/lbs (I was lazy and didn't feel like putting on my new 398 Orbit Grey wheels last week).

All in all, it took me about 5 hours (1 hour just to remove lugs). It was a bit of a challenge getting the caliper bolts off all 4 corners. It seems like they come with quite a bit of Loctite from the factory. I let the bolts soak in PB Blaster for a bit, which helped.

I bleed the system in the proper order twice, then used Reingold to activate the DSC bleed procedure to shake loose any additional air bubbles (there were some).

I then VO coded SPBR to the HO-WORT folder, Using Serpent720 instructions.

Using Esys 3.23.4 with psdzdata 51.1

1. Connect=>Expert Mode=>Coding=>Read FA=>Save FA
2. Editiors & Viewers=>FA-Editor=>Go to HO-Wort and right click to "Edit", then type (means add) "SPBR" under HO-Wort folder
3. Highlight the FA, "Activate FA" and "Calculate FA" to verify no error is found after adding the SPBR.
4. Check the Vehicle Profile to locate the "aftermarket retrofit" and verify the "SPBR_18_ZOLL_SPORTBRAKE" is added to the folder
5. Write FA to the car. No confirmation window will pop up after saving the FA to the car. So you need to go to next step for verification.
6. Expert Mode=>Coding=>Read FA. You are able to see the SPBR being added to the HO-Wort folder on your car.
7. Read SVT, and locate the "DSC" (File Folder SVT/ECU/DSC), then right click the "DSC" folder and select "Code". Coding would begin immediately.
8. Wait until the coding is finished, and repeat Step 1 to save a copy of the new FA.
9. Unplug the PC from the car. The M-Performance Brake is now enable and enjoy the genuine M-Performance Braking experience.
So far the biggest difference is the looks! The car looks AMAZING! The yellow really goes well with Mineral Grey. I'll get some better pics up tomorrow. Thank you everyone for your help! This is definitely an easy DIY. My two closest dealer's quoted me $620 and $1140 for the install. Definitely glad I did it myself. It only cost me $5 in brake fluid from my local dealer and $60 for a pressure bleeder from Amazon.

Do not recommend you try. Go instead for custom strand woven carbon ceramic new technology, a better CCB, x3- x5 longer than prev CCB tech. Works at all temps.

Go in the sponsor section of this forum and a couple vendors price them under $2000. A few in the $1700 range before shipping. Of course you also have to add in the rear rotors which is another ~$400. Cheapest if you are lucky enough to get free shipping is just under $2300.

My local dealership quoted me ~$700 after tax, depending on your location I would expect it to be cheaper.

Yep!! I sent him a message asking to get me his best price. I couldn't say no when I saw it. This was for Yellow Calipers. Red and Orange were a few hundred dollars more.

i have this kit and my brake pads are almost done. Can somebody tell me if they are just the regular pads or does this come with special pads? I've been through the entire booklets and cannot find any info on replacement parts.

greatly appreciate any input.
thanks!

The M Performance Brakes use the same pads as the F8x. How many miles do you have? I only have about 10k on mine, but there is plenty of pad left. The stock pads create WAY too much dust. I've heard good things about EBC Reds. I'm probably going to give them a try when it's time.

Here are the part #'s for EBC Reds

REDSTUFF
EBC DP32130C- FRONT
EBC DP32133C- REAR

Here are the part #'s for OEM BMW Pads.

I just got PowerStop from Amazon and it only cost me ~$80 using Prime shipping.

Front:*https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B01LY...op_mb_pd_title

Back:*https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B01CF...op_mb_pd_title

The back was on sales for ~$30.

After properly cleaning and lube all contact parts, for ~2 weeks of driving not a single noise.

Stopping power is the same for me for day to day driving.

But, I have read that ceramic pads are not good for track.

I decided not to change rotors (they are above minimum) and I reused sensors. Not doing the pads break-in process either. So far so good.

I'm looking to buy the M Brake upgrade from a BMW dealer on Ebay as well, but I have the Maintenance plan and I am wondering how this may affect that, and/or the warranty? Not sure my dealer will install customer supplied parts, even if from another BMW dealer, and if I get done somewhere else I see them trying to deny any warranty/maintenance claims if they arise, no?
