Catless Downpipe Smell

Hey guys, I am thinking about getting some Catless downpipes but have read that the smell could be pretty bad. Do anyone around or near San Jose have some on that I might be able to smell? Or tell me how bad is it? My wife has a good nose and I don't want to drive her crazy. Thanks.

I had catless downpipes on my E92 335i and I didn't smell anything. Maybe I'm just oblivious, but your wife likely won't notice a difference.

Same as Brandon, I couldn't smell it either. Probably cause of the second cat.

Don't let the wifey drive it. Lol. It is not that noticeable unless you back into your garage and start/idle with garage door open, even then it's not a big deal. Who does that anyways.

You're going to smell it and it's gonna be pretty atrocious. Your wife will definitely notice it unless she has no sense of smell. IF The police notice it you're looking at a beating, a good tasering and your car being impounded for five years

Depending what part of Man Jose you're in I can demonstrate the smell for you.

I would think that would be sarcasm friend. The smell is there but it's not that bad. Go stick your head in buddies' exhaust and smell for yourself.

100% sure your wife will notice it if you roll your windows down while at a stop light. My gf always complains to me about it (LOL). From my understanding the F30 does not have a secondary cat. I'm around the SF area if you ever want to check my car out.

100% agree with this, some people say you can smell it at red lights but I never have, you can smell it when you're behind the car when it's idling

It's gonna smell when you're stopped at a red light with windows down and also when you're behind the car. At least mine does. More noticable on a hot day or after you've been driving for awhile but I'd say 70 percent of the time you won't smell it.

had them installed for few weeks now, smell don't bug me at all. Wife just don't roll down window anymore.

I live in Sf and travel out to Sj almost weekly. The smell is for sure there but with an E85 mix it's minimal. I get complains from relatives outside my car and at a light with windows down you'll start to smell it.

Doesn't bother me though, and under heavy throttle people around you will smell it also

Overall most complains are from people outside the car, otherwise inside it's minimal

I'll be in Sj this sat btw.

I was worry about the smell but really its nothing. Even with windows rolled down it does not bug anymore. Put some Black Ice in the car and for sure it will not matter.

I live in Sf, if you wanna meet up to smell it. I also got no mufflers or resonator so it might be a little more strong. But i mix with E85 every now and then so sometimes it's not too bad

Yes DP is VRSF without muffle delete. I am interested in heard the mufflers and resanator deletes also.
