435xi + mods vs stock M4

Hi Guys,
I am considering upgrade to 35xi or 35xd and started wondering how it handles agains RWD M's in the real life scenarios.
My current 420i RWD tuned a bit over 428i levels is already having tracktion problems when starting off the line and going WOT in 2nd gear.

So started thinking about 6 banger and X version for better grip. Of course I also consider tuning it.

And to the point - will the tuned 35xi/xd be actually faster than M3/4 ? Maybe not during summer, but when autumn comes I believe it will smoke M's easily.
Any experiences here ?

Depends on the amount of bolt-ons and the tune. Just takes $$$$.

If it was SO easy to beat an M4 with just a tune, why did BMW even go through the trouble of R&D for an M4? Just slap on a tune and call it a day...

Of course M's will be better with handling etc. But thinking here more of straight line performance and launches. In real time situation M's will be fighting for grip whereas X Drive versions should outperform them ? At least on paper it makes sense no sure about real life scenario hehe

Yes, so the 435i xDrive might launch a bit better but it's only a matter of time before an M4 reels the 435i xDrive in and passes it.

Are you really THAT interested in launching? I wonder how many launches before a transmission, diff, or axle shits itself.

Depends how much you put down on the 435xi.

The gearbox on the 435 can only take so much power/torque (450nm if I remember correctly)

If you do full bolt ons, turbo swap and ECU flash, you can probably crank out 400-450WHP which will beat the M4 stock easily by a car length or two , but problem is traction, gearbox and cost for the mods.

If you go safe tune, you'll beat the M4 in the quarter mile barely. (12.3secs M4 vs 12-12.3 full bolt ons only)

If you have the 8AT then I believe it's not rated for much beyond 330hp.

Err that makes no sense as the new MPPK is rated at 335hp, unless the 8AT with paddles is rated higher than the one without?

Transmissions don't care about how much power your engine makes. The limiting factor is mostly torque.

Exactly, and I have manual in mind, and it can take 470Nm.

FBO 335 with E85 mix and/or methanol should be faster than a stock M3/M4

Yup 346 lb-ft so we're in the same ballpark. I wouldn't tune a pre-LCI F30 beyond that amount.

Post-LCI I think the transmission was updated for higher torque. Meanwhile the M3 is rated at what, around 400 lb-ft?
