The add-ons mentioned in the "core equipment base" are included at no additional cost? So everything for $63,300? Or am I missing something? This is a fully loaded 335i with Individual Interior+Exterior for only freakin $63,300???

If this is real, that is one helluva deal.
My question is why is the deadline to order a week or so away if no one knows about it? |

As much as I'd like to believe it the current gen Audis are on the B8 platform, which is shared across the A4, S4, A5, S5, and Q5.
These are all the same basic chassis with some slight differences, but to Audi, they are the same platform. The B5 or 6 was shared with VW (Passat) but I think they quickly diverged. That said I considered an A4, didn't like the way it drove and stayed in BMW family. |

So I got it, but I haven't had much time to test her out. As everyone says, you right away do notice the difference, but in traffic, its not quite so noticable.... unless you drive aggressivel for 30ft to the next car :P
After a bit of driving, on the way home, I do get the feeling this will turn me into a hooligan. Definitely it encourages you to be a jerk and peel at the light. I also do notice a difference in comfort mode. The pedal isn't as immediate, on engaging the power as in sport, but you definitely feel it pull harder. As for the sound... its too windy today with the windows open to hear the exhaust. A quick walk around at start up did seem to show it had a tad more presence... but not like it didn't have that before. When I dropped her, and they started her to mover her out of the bay, it let of beautiful rumble. I do notice that I can hear that valve open up more strongly and more often than before. Even in comfort mode, on the highway. If you bring her to 5k rpm and let off the gas, its there. That Whooosh. Some people might not like hearing that all the time - and I do hear it all the time - so it may not be for them. Is it overwhelming for me? Not yet. Maybe it needs some adaption time, but its also that I haven't really pushed it. The only time was on an onramp and it clearly very easily clawed itself up to the next car. But I also believe that this is one of those things where if you don't drive aggressively, then you won't notice it. Anyway, I've got a raodtrip coming up so I'll push it for sure...

OK more of my take on MPPK... ( but take note that I've never owned a tuned car before... )
I drove a bit more! About 1000km over the weekend with MPPK installed. Well, about 900 of that was highway boring speeds. Remember, it was a 120km/hr weekend due to the speed traps being practically everywhere. I'm not 100% convinced about eco-pro to begin with so I didn't really test it in a controlled manner. Even on the highway, I'm always switching modes to pass or when I'm worried about the idiots around me. Read this as, Eco pro may save gas, but it might not save your life. i.e. the throttle response is so poor, I can't see it being useful in an emergency. What's a few bucks for saving your life after all? I only use it in very empty conditions. Except for the reduction in energy usage from heating/cooling, I'm pretty sure if you drive smoothly in sport and shift properly, you can match 95% of eco pro yourself anyway. Now then, I moved on to some nicely paved country roads south of the Ottawa Airport and must have spent half a day doing pulls from stopped. I used more than a 1/2 tank of gas on that alone. I won't say 0-100km times and measures were taken, as I never used any form of launch control/kickdown, and I never brought out the stop watch... but I have to say it is fast. You can pass 100km before you know it. That other poster on the main board is right. I would say that just by feel/rough count, its 4.5, and maybe lower. Lets just say, even counting slow, I could never reach 5. What does it do for your car? Well besides what's been said so many times before, I would say that it pulls hard and allows you to drive as aggressively as you want. It will reel in just about anything at any speeds on the street, and lets you "jump" into opennings in traffic. And although it doesn't feel this way while from the cockpit, it allows you to effortlessly become a total jerk and to enjoy it all in a carefree manner, grinning ear to ear... I found myself:
In short, it turns you into a kid in a candy shop. p.s. the whole trip, including at least 1/2 a day doing pulls, city driving some highway driving etc, I averaged 8.4L/100km. On the bar graph, the best I ever saw on that was about 6.4.

I was also hoping that it might solve my disappointment with the 3-2 downshift being jerky (automatic transmission), but it had no effect. Does anyone else find that gear change to be rough? Anyways, I have several weeks of driving left before I hit the 1,000km mark that people are saying really shows the true performance of the kit. Perhaps my impressions will change. |
