It looks like the 235/45s will be the safest bet from what I am seeing as far as speedo difference.

235/45/18 will be fine
speed error noted, 245/40 would still look better esp. since your lowered i couldn't find any pics with 235/40/18 since most have opted for 245/40/18 or 255/40/18 (slight "mushroom") on 18x8.5 +35. http://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho...+240%2F40%2F18 http://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho...40%2F18&page=2 http://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho...+240%2F40%2F18 post some pics after you get the 235's Last edited by alohasurftoad; 04-10-2017 at 07:00 PM.. |

235/45/18 will correct the (3mph high reading) bmw speedo and accrue less miles than actually being driven, which is a lot, in your case. possibly better fuel economy also caused by larger diameter and smaller contact patch area
235/45/18 has just under 5/16" more sidewall for ride and impact. of course, as you already know, the tires you choose will be the biggest factor in ride and noise and performance found some 235/45/18 pics. looks good. http://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho...=235%2F45%2F18 Last edited by alohasurftoad; 04-10-2017 at 09:47 PM.. |

I just went ahead and ordered the DWS06 245/40/18s. Discount Tire price matched so I got everything for $840 after a mail-in rebate.

Had my BNIB VMR 710s 18x8.5" installed with Continental DWS 06 245/40/18" tires. Everything was great until I got home. Very upset and hoping Discount Tire takes care of the issue.

Here's a pic showing how VMR V710 18x8.5" wheels with DWS 06 245/40/18" tires (squared) look like with non M-Sport 328i lowered with Dinan lowering springs.

New to the Forum, so bear with me. I've NEVER switched wheels on a car before, so I feel l little lost. Here's my situation:
I'm looking to upgrade the 17" factory wheels on my 2016 320ix to 18". I really like the M-sport wheels that come with the sport package. So my questions are: 1. It looks like the 18" wheels have a slightly smaller offset (34mm) versus the 17" (37mm). This seems minor, and if stick with a 225/45 R18 tire, I shouldn't have any fit problems correct? 2. The larger wheel/slighty thinner tire--how will it affect ride handling? Will I notice a difference? I would assume it would stiffen things up a bit--which is what I'm hoping for. 3. Who/where is a good rim retailer. I'd be happy buying refurbished even. I've been looking at this: http://www.autorimshop.com/bmw-320i-...rim-71616.html Any thoughts? 4. Tires. Any recommendations? I'd like quiet over anything. Ride is pretty quiet on the Continental Run flats I have now--nearly as quiet as my old TSX was on Michelen's (which was really quiet!). Appreciate any advice. |

Dr Matt - I just did the same thing. The 18" rims are wider so the offset is a little different to adjust for that. Nothing that will cause it to rub or look wrong. Those are still stock bmw wheels for your car. If you look on the classifieds there are sets for sale. Look on the other member classifieds for used wheels not this sponsored classified. I'll provide a link below. You should be able to find 4 400m rims in decent shape for no more than $500, more with tires and tpms. I just got a set of takeoffs for $900 with new runflats and tpms from a 340i.
Look on your local craigslist and you may find some like I did and not need to pay any shipping. As for tires, if they don't come with decent tires you can choose between more run flats or go with normal tires since they are cheaper and carry a tire plug kit or something similar. I'm guessing you just need some decent all-seasons so they will last longer than summer tires and work in colder conditions. Tirerack has lots of choices in size 225/45 18 which is the stock size for the 18x8 rims you get. Since you are xdrive you probably want all 4 wheels the same size and not go staggered like I did. Its just easier with all wheel drive. I think there are a couple sets for sale now in the classifieds linked below. The other thing to consider is the TPMS and whether you want to swap from your wheels or get wheels that have the correct TPMS already or go no tpms or buy new ones for ~$200. Otherwise you get the idrive warning. Keep your eyes peeled and you'll come across a set that works for you. Just keep in mind some sets are staggered for wider rear wheels/tires. The rear rim will be 18x8.5 instead of 18x8 http://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=448 |

2. Larger wheel are for looks. The differences you will notice is more unsprung weight but it all depends on what you intend to use the car for(daily, spririted driving, track, etc). That's when you have to do research on tires that fit your needs. 3. If I were you I'll look here in the classified forums(wheels/tires) as there's always OEM wheels for sale some with tires for a bargain price, be patient and ask a lot before purchasing, use PayPal invoice verified accounts for transaction.(never gift) 4. That all depends if you want all seasons , summer performance , winter , run flats etc. just check tirerack.com they have pretty good reviews. |

Here is my '16 435xi with the stock 398 wheels for winter and then BBS SR 18x8 for summer.
The suspension is stock but I have M-Sport and Track Handling with the larger brakes which made finding 18's that fit strangely difficult. Last edited by manimal55; 04-18-2017 at 11:25 AM.. |

I'd go 19. I put some style 269 rims on my f10 the other day and it looks pretty damn amazing. Someone should put this style on an f30!!

Just upgraded my wheels:
2014 328i xdrive with stock suspension. Decided to go with a square setup. Rims are Apex EC-7 18x8.5" with Anthracite Finish, ET35 offset Tires are Michelin Pilot Sport 4S 245/40ZR-18 Edit: A forum member PM'd me for some more pics showing how the wheel fits, I gotta say it works really well with my car! And looks great as well! BTW, it is a good idea to check the cold tire pressure after the tires are mounted on the rims, my dealer had them at 40+ PSI, and forgot to lower them to the car's spec of 32 psi for the fronts, and 35 psi for the rears. MAJOR improvement in the ride!! Front wheel: Rear wheel:

Thanks, I have had these since last September and I wasn't sold on them at first on the car, but I love them now. I am about to put BBK on the car, which will be shown off well with the openness of these wheels.
