a typical 19" wheel staggered setup that works without issues is 19x8.5 +35 front, 19x9.5" +40 rear. the offsets in your setup is just slightly lower, so it'll be further out by just 3mm in the front and 5mm in the rear.

no problem. if you scroll down to post #637 jackAdams has the typical setup that i talk about.
http://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho...741571&page=29 for x-drive with 20" staggered setup i recommend fronts-20x8.5 +35ish with 235/35/20 (26.5" dia.) and rears-20x10 +42ish 275/30/20 (26.5") Last edited by alohasurftoad; 09-14-2017 at 09:23 PM.. |

If that is not the case then disregard rest of post That's not what the spec is about. Spec refers to difference between front & rear tires installed on car regardless of what was originally installed. % difference between front and rear tire sizes cannot exceed 1% - reason is >1% front & rear tires will be rotating at speeds with enough difference to mess with mech/elec of AWD components New tire dia. compared to original tire installed dia. has nothing to do with AWD problems - at most, your speedo will be slightly off one way or the other - from factory the speedo doesn't read correctly anyway so depending on which way you go, you may correct factory speedo offset & actually be reading correct speed

^ I was just trying to ensure you bought the right tire size and yes, comparing to 225/45/18. I definitely understand all the xdrive issues, all good.
I always try to stay within 1% of stock tire size. Obviously for speed sensor issues (although everyone says it's all off), but I've always read that it affects ABS sensors. Who knows. |

FWIW, I'm going to try the following on my 335 xdrive since I found a great deal on some staggered Forgestar F14s here on the forums:
F 18x8.5 245/40/ZR18 R 18x9.5 285/35/ZR18 OAD difference is roughly 0.8%

235/45 (10mm stretch) on 8.5", 265/40 (perfect) fit on 9.5" is a more suitable combination. 26.3"/26.3" diameter difference = 0%. Last edited by alohasurftoad; 09-16-2017 at 12:06 PM.. |

The other thing i noticed about the 18" and 19" charts are that all the tire size selections are in the 25" tire diameter range (look at all the Height numbers (diameter)). For xDrive, I believe the OE overall diameter (OAD) should be ~26". Therefore, the tire selections should start with 26" tires. https://tiresize.com/chart/. Am I correct? Please help - I'm a noob at this.

I really do wish people wouldn't continue the myth about BMW and the 1% difference on xdrive. BMW sells cars that start at 1.2% themselves without any warnings. The BMW m235 xdrive came with 225/40/18 front and 245/35/18 rear. That's 1.2% diameter difference from the factory. These cars are not the e46xi cars. Those cars had to be very restricted. They do not resemble the newer xdrive system. Newer cars compute for rolling diameter on take of.

Should be fine. I'm running the exact same setup on my F30 340i.

So I placed my 99 Firebird new set of MRR wheels and Continental Extremes tires on the F30 M xdrive. All fit perfect after adding a 3mm spacer in the back to clear the M calipers. Drove it for a bit but something feels off. A bit of hesitation on accelerating at any speed.
Fronts 245/35/19. 8.5 wide Rears 295/30/19. 9.5 wide My question is, what is my percentage on the above set up? Do I just change the rears to a 275/30/19 and be ok or will I have others concerns to look out for? I saw on another thread someone stating NOT to go with the 35 F / 30 R profile. Any reason for this? Thanks First post. |

I just want to make completely sure, since I would like to go to a wider front (245/40/18) which would be a 1.2% difference to the rear (255/40/18), but everybody is saying it has to be less than 1%. Thanks! Regards, Wilton |

so im in the market for 235/265 combo and tire rack is severely limited on tire choices. is it that many manufacturers do not make these sizes or is it just a bad time of year for summer tires in these sizes?
