M sport
Will probably wait two years. But I plan on getting an m sport that has been used as a demo. Typically can get them for $10,000 under the new retail price this time of year with around 5 to 8k on them is all.

I just turn 32 yesterday, call me old if you want, but i have a Luxury Imperial 335i MT on 19in ordered for ED in April.
i am not regretting the choice one bit since talking to my dealership last November, even before all these press releases! Will eventually drop the car a few inches and tinted those windows for more privacy. Can't wait for the boat shipment in July! |

lol that's funny because I absolutely hate the saddle brown (I've seen a few pictures where it actually looked like they used a real saddle to cover the seat lol) but I love the wheels on the luxury line =)

Sport was an easy decision due to certain performance options only being available at that level. That said, I am disappointed in some of the basic options such as needing to go with aluminum to not get the red strip - I've always felt that aluminum in a 50K+ car was cheap. Would have liked to see an option for a very nice very deep dark wood with black accents. Also I'm disappointed with BMW for not including basic things like Xenons on all cars. I can afford a 335i which comes standard with them but having such a great car without Xenons or power seats is a cop out. I get the upsell option, and love customization but basics in 2012 are basics.

yeah im exiting a msport e90 328 in may. and cant wait for a msport in the fall. its a shame. im going to miss the m wheel. i love the thicker wheel. weve got a 2012 x3 with sport and the thinness of the wheel compared to my msport bothers me. but i guess ill have to get used to it. im hoping the msport is like 4k over than sport so i can feel better about getting the sport instead of msport. msport looks a lot better aesthetically to me also than the sport. to be honest, i think the appearance of the f30 is going to have to grow on me. i saw a couple of f30 328s at the dealer over the weekend, and something was just off about them. the side mirrors look really cheap to me for whatever reason.

In the end I went luxury. Partly because I love the chromeline exterior, but also because, in the UK at least, I could also spec sports seats which is really important to me. If I was in the US I would order a sport line for sure. I'm 35 years old though, if I had been younger I would have gone sport line regardless of where I lived!
I wish the red leather interior looked like it does in these config pictures, i.e. dark almost burgundy. IRL it is much brighter, certainly not to my taste anyway. I think the new M sport look is great. By contrast I always thought the E90 M Sport looked barely distinguishable from the standard lines. That said, the new M Sport is NOT the car for for me. I need something a little more understated, after all, I don't want every 18 year old in a hatch thinking I want a race when in fact my two-year old is quietly watching DVDs in the back seat! My boy racing days are over. But that's kinda my point - I think the new M sport is a properly aggressive looking car which it should be if it's going to wear the M sport badge. I am just pleased that they made something distinctive from the other lines for people that want that sort of look. The coupe version will look awesome (and if I could afford it I would get a coupe M Sport for the weekend). |

Sportline for me. I love the black interior and the red highlight stitching on the tiller and the seats. I'm not so sure about the red strip across the dash ( standard in Aussie bound sportlines). I also love the 18" 397 wheels. They're the highlight of the exterior. The whole car comes across as one sporty ride.
I felt the Luxury line presents a bit of a staid image and I detest that funny textured wood on the Modern Line.

The base isn't a fail. It's the way BMW gets their low starting price and BMW doesn't promote the base line nor do dealers stock many or any so you can't expect it to be very popular. The modern line on the other hand.......epic fail.

I guess I'm in the minority when I say I like the Modern. Especially that red one with the oyster interior that someone posted. |

In the UK, the luxury line is a bit more expensive and has full leather (which I didn't want). Saddle brown is a nice colour, but too much of the interior is black and not enough Saddle brown, so to my eyes it looks a bit patchy. Choice is good. It would be a bit naff if we all chose the same combos.

But I chose the Sport line instead, primarily because of the sports seats. Even though I don't drive long distances, I like how sports seats hold and cushion me, instead of having my butt slide all over the place on hard corners. I can pay for sports seats in a Modern line in Singapore, but they'd cost about S$2,400 on their own, versus just S$730 for the Sports line package. The 2nd reason why I didn't choose Modern was because I ferry my dog around on occasion, and even with a seat cover, the light interior would get dirty very quickly. I'm really not crazy about the boy racer look of the Sport line, but I can understand why BMW's rationale for going with it especially in light of the strong reactions of some folks on this forum. Neither do I like the limited colour choices for the interior and interior upholstery - grey is out cos of my dog, and red was just not a viable option with Havanna (my 1st choice for exterior) or Mineral Grey (2nd choice), so I'm stuck with black interior, which feels dark and constricting. Finally, to answer your query about why choose Sport instead of M-Sport later, it was about the $$. There's no indication/certainty about how much more the M-Sport would cost later. Plus, by ordering my Sport line 328 before the official launch in Singapore, I got a significant discount. Plus I was reliably informed by several sources that the Certificate of Entitlement prices were going to climb in the next few months...which meant that when the M-Sport is finally released, it might have been many tens of thousands dollars more expensive than the Sport version I ordered. COE prices have indeed risen, from around S$75k when I ordered it to S$92k the last time I looked (a couple of weeks back).
