Correct. However the original twin setup has more potential and can run higher boost more reliably that the single.

The new DINAN 3 uses an "n54", its their design now, as well as the original versions of the 335is.

I agree in stock form its fairly difficult to distinguish the setups by their power delivery.

Looks like reviewers like the 4 series. But the thing is, everybody in America will buy this with XDrive, so most things they say here don't really make much sense. With XDrive everything is a little bit worst.

Watching the latest reviews, seems like the reviewers get a vanilla feeling.

They left a lot on the table for the M4.

My impression as well. The car brings little new vs outgoing generation and despite being a higher end model from the previous generation, copies 3 series interior and most of exterior from a lower end model (3). Overall, beside a new tranny most everything else is from past generation of 3ers. Of course the 4-cyl engine is great too but for 3/435 the isn't much new in power plant.
What I would like to see considering mpg concerns, is a much lighter car. This increase power to weight ratio using the old engine.

News flash - the U.S. consists of considerably more than New England. People in the South and West barely know what xDrive is and they rarely buy it.

I even think BMW does that on purpose so people will spend more money for the M Sports pack. Think about it. Before E92/E93 LCI, almost every BMW has a good looking front bumper, but since the LCI E92 and F10, we start getting these kinds of front bumpers that make the cars look weird...

Nonsense. It's beyond me any anyone will buy an AWD version of a car if a RWD model is available.

Honesty i thought about what you just said. I got a M3 this year because i love the S65 V8 and wanted one since 2009. its not always about what is faster.

Another good point is this also.

BMW is coming out with brand new stuff, and this engine has a lot of different types of speculation. i wouldn't want the first year of this brand new M3/M4 anyways. So even if i wanted the new m4, i would be waiting little more than i can handle.

So no i will not be kicking my self anytime soon.

I agree. I don't get it either. But I think he is not that far off, because I am even starting to see new 328xi's on the lot here in Memphis. For the record it has not snowed here in about two years.

Honestly, I blame Audi. They have been pushing AWD (by which I mean advertising the Quattro system) hard in the US over the past few years.

Weird, I thought one N54 v N55 comment like this would produce more, but nothing as of yet. A pleasant surprise

AWD has advantages even in areas where is doesn't snow. The improved grip is quite noticeable.

Has anyone actually noticed how unenthusiastic he was reviewing the car. It was as if he didn’t want to say anything too negative because BMW invited him for a test drive. He almost seems to hint that this car is ordinary, and not that exciting. He seems, honestly, by looking at his face and tone of voice, disappointed. Look at his previous review of other BMWs, Audis, and etc, there’s far more sensation from him. I hope I’m wrong, and that the car is as every bit good as the predecessor. He is an excellent reviewer though.

Agreed - he didn't like it, but I get the impression that he just likes cars which offer more drama or excitement - some strong aspect that really grabs you... Not what this car was designed for.

You guys do know that he's reviewing a 4-Series, right? For all intents and purposes...a 3-Series. Some of you act like this is a car which should get your blood boiling every time you drive it.
