New M Sport Pads

Cars been into BMW for a service today and they have said both front and rear pads need replacing...quote on first call £494, reduced to £399 on second quote...has anyone got the links to the alternative pads and prices....

What sort of mileage are people getting out of the front and rear pads, I think 36k for the fronts is good but not for the tears...

Cheers
Virge

£70 is a bit better than £400 isn't it!

I wonder if it's part of the induction process for new BMW employees - can you keep a straight face when suggesting these prices to customers?

Disks and pads I'd be grumbling at those costs, yet that's pads alone?!?! They do know how to charge!

Dealers for warranty, servicing and the really tricky stuff, a good independent for everything else.

The front discs are £500 with forum discount! Or £400 for the MP ones.

Is the £399 quote for a full set of OEM pads on M Sport (blue calipers) fitted? It actually sounds like a bargain compared to some of the quotes I have heard which were around that for a single set of fronts, although a lot more than the DIY option admittedly.

My front pads will last about 50k miles and rears 80-90k by the look of it.

I believe they'll sell you the pads for around £300, so £100 labour for a 30 minute max job is still pretty steep!

Do the aftermarket pads make less brake dust?

Depends which ones. My Brembo pads create a lot on bedding in but okay after that unless braking hard.

If they're oem equivalent like the Pagids & TRW's they will create exactly the same amount of dust. With lower dust pads like EBC redstuff you will lose a lot of the initial bite, although you gain better fade resistance.
