I believe you can reset the pad wear via the trip computer - a few vids on Youtube how to do it.

OP - I bought the pads recommended by teaston for £35 delivered.

Don't start me on Eastern. You can indeed fool most of the people all of the time.

piss easy... carly adapter, bavtech, inpa, ista d/p...
ista / inpa you can get off here if you search... then all you need is the cable
No need for any of that, just do it via the trip reset button.

Can you not do the pads yourself?
I did mine a few months ago on the F30 330d.
Did the whole lot for £55 including Genuine BMW pad sensor from a guy on Ebay and Textar pads from Eurocar parts.
Looked on youtube to reset the service warning.

You only need a pad sensor if it's contacted the disc (i.e. the pad wear light has come on in the dashboard)

Anyone got a link though for the " pad life remaining" reset in the iDrive?

Wee buns to do

Make sure an replace the wear indicator if needed along with the pads

Get into car and close the door
Turn ignition on
Press and hold the trip reset on the speedo
The trip will reset to zero, hold through this and the mileage will come back again. Then I think at this point you let go, and immediately press and hold again
You should then see a service menu in the dash display - let go now
Press the trip button on/off again to sequence through the service tasks.
Stop when you get to the brakes ( front / back )
Press and hold, it should then give you the option to reset, press again to reset
A counter will show, and then clear the indicator back to 30k or whatever is should be

Been doin this for years on MINI's and E90's
Did the bro in laws X4 on Sunday

The problem is keeping the I drive happy since records are stored on the fob and idrive??

Doesn't this just get rid of the warning/reset?

This resets the fault exactly the same as the dealer, the countdown for replacement will go back to 30000 miles
You can use this for service, brake fluid change or inspection

Fob and I drive will update accordingly
I have never let a dealer fit brakes on any of my cars. I have the service pack and that covers everything else

Yes the local garage can do the reset on brakes but couldn't for instance add a service into the idrive system as this is closed down by BMW.

Stupid quote came from Sytner Nottingham but i guess all their garages do the same. They really are piss takers !

An independent garage that have registered for BMW Aftersales Online System (AOS) portal can add services to idrive though.

Mine is due a it's first service within the next month.
Knowing Eastern, i wonder what they will think off in trying to rip me of this time after the service.

Last time was the usual tack/nail in the side wall of the run flats, including filming of defect during inspection.
New tyre required. Aye right. Ha Ha.
Repaired at local tyre depot, just to be on the safe side, for so much less.!!
