I agree. The Merc's is ridiculous. I drive a friend's ML550 every now and again and almost always hit the cruise control stalk for the indicator stalk.

I really thought I was alone on this. I'd never have the leatherette. It's like wearing leatherette shoes. Jeez, it's fake leather. At least fabric is genuine and cool.

I like the cup holder, a fair amount of the time I don't have a passenger so it's nice that it's out of the way.

The only problem is my lumbering clumsy friend broke the passenger side one the second time he rode in the car. (and we both knew it was going to happen).... needless to say I wasn't too happy... luckily the dealer fixed it under warranty.

1) Heads up display that can be toggled on and off.
2) Add start/stop function to all 3 series, but take it OFF of the M's.
3) Definitely door lock buttons on the doors.
4) Keyless entry standard.
5) Less "plastic-y" shifter on Auto models.
6) Stiffer suspension.
7) Lighter overall.
8 Smaller overall.
9) Better slot cavities for cell phones, etc.
10) Better smartphone interface.

Real suggestions

Hey, here are some good suggestions for all the 3 series:

1. Storage Pocuh/compartment on the door and back seat.

2. More language support on the Navigation/music system

3. change the way to store music: enable adding individual songs to different folders.

4. Standard parking sensor (really, that thing is cheap), and Xenon light on 328.

5. Keyless entry standard or for lower price (literally, Lexus, Infiniti, even Toyota have this standard)

6.Make it lighter

7. Heated shiftnob. Ventilated Seats.

8. standardize bluebooth (seriously??)

9. Get rid of rain-sensing wipers, useless, we can do it ourselves.

10. Make the DRL angel eyes, just the halos, nothing in the middle, or make this optional to change by ourselves.

11. Paddle shift standard

12. Make Concierge plan part of the Assist package

13. Bluetooth streaming audio

14. Get rid of the memory option from the Premium along with Compass, garage door opener (we have remotes), lumbar support (useless).

15. Include fold down rear seats, anti-theft alarm in Premium.

16. Make the turbo-4 come faster, and better!!!

Cheers

So many complaints. The car is getting larger to fit into the next higher US size class for fuel economy. Making performance parts a factory option is an interesting idea. It does have the effect of complicating the manufacturing process and dealers would not like it.

Perhaps something like the 335is coupe, but done more aggressively would be cool. It would be halfway to an M3, not just a slightly pumped 335i.

1) Option to add LSD on the top level non-m 3 series.

2) RFT's are good for handling but bad for everything else, I will say that there should be an option to delete them.

3) Logical cup holders (i know that no one cares about this but I bought a BMW thermos and it still didn't fit in those)

4) In the US; raise the price by $1000 dollars and make leather seats standard, leatherette is subpar, had it in my 3 and didn't like it at all, no way to justify that in a 45K car.

5) Make bluetooth and essentially the entire Premium Package (including leather above) standard, those are items that should be base on a 45K+ car. Sport Package is an enthusiast package and should remain as an option as should the cold weather (for cold climates) and convenience (with the exception of the alarm which should be standard (the car makes no audible noise when closed without alarm - this is pathetic).

6) The base stereo should be more than what BMW did on the 3's for a part of 2010 and 2011, I sat in a Corolla and its' sounded better.

It's been funny to read this thread as obviously most of the post are from customers from North America. Sure we do have different kind of interests (for example I haven't ever used a cup holder,) what should be standard in 3-series. LSD is just good joke to be standard, I doesn't make any sense for most of BMW customers to be honest. For M buyers the story is of course totally different as it should be. Here are my ideas to be improved for the following 3-series.

- Folding backseats for F30, although I'm driving the touring and it has those as standard.

- Run-flats just doesn't work. Good idea, but so far they haven't met the requirements. So at least offer regular ones without an extra cost.

- Xenon headlights has to be standard for cars above 40 000€.

- Base radio sucks so it should be slightly better, of course HiFis are always optional equipment.

- Door handles same color as the car in standard. After the LCI they have been but in 2006 they weren't. That is just mocking the customer.

- No freakin' iPod docks etc. USB and aux-in should be placed closer the radio for better usability.

I stand by it, the stuff could easily be put on at final assembly or at the dealer. Yeah it's slightly more work but it's easy money. If that was the case for my new 335i, they would have sold a PE and some uprated wheels, and it's not a stretch to say many others would make the same choice.

Also, may I re-emphasize my point about 6MT drivers having to subsidize auto trans and getting nothing in return. That is an awful an infuriating practice.

lool the reason why they cant put it anywhere near the doors and every year they get the button smaller to avoid thieves, if its anywhere near the door... anyone could just put a peace of metal threw the door such as a shirt hanger... and the rest is history... this is why they always put it in awkward positions and with smaller buttons ... just my two cents..

Bluetooth music receiver. Seriously, that USB cable is too short and who uses wired anymore? Fix the cup holders. Add sunglasses holder at center light. Make the garage door opener easier to program. Cooled seats like in the escalade

Better cupholders for sure. I hate how they pop out of the holder and onto everything and everyone when I hit bump in the road.
