Clicking Noise from the rear of the car at idle

So I noticed this sound the other day when. I pulled into the driveway. I was going to grab something from the garage and leave so i left the car on.

I walked around to the back of the car and heard a ticking or clicking noise at idle. The car was properly warmed up.

Anyone ever hear this noise while the car is on. I know all cars make a similar sound once they are turned off and they are cooling down. I have never heard it at idle before.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Dropped it of at the dealer this weekend he said it had to do with the waste gates on the turbo and that the sound resonates through the exhaust system

Umm, not sure the person you talked to knew quite what they were talking about. If the car is just idling, the wastegates aren't in motion.

This is almost certainly expansion/contraction of the exhaust components due to temperature changes. If you're sitting at idle after driving, the exhaust system will still be cooling down from when you were working the engine.
