I remember seeing that the newer builds have the touch dial? Was that the change in the early 2014 release?

The 5062 update did not work on my car :-( My car has a production date of July 2013, and I do have NBT. My current software versions are: MN-2.33.2 ; TN-2.34.1
If you are pre-March 2014 and you were able to get it to work, do you know what your software versions were before the update? |

Cant tell from my limited driving today. Web radio, MP3, etc. all worked as before with no change. I connect to the USB port with my own lightning cable (iPhone 6 on iOS 8.1.2). The car is at the dealer now for a oil change.
For those of you with pre-March builds and the update not taking, there is probably a firmware dependency preventing the update from running. I would check your I-Step version. Mine is F020-14-07-503. If you dont code, then check the NBT software version from the iDrive interface. Mine is NBT_H. This is my best guess on why it isnt taking for some pre-March cars.

Installed no issues (production 10/14). Will have to do some driving to see if some of the glitches with the previous software and iOS 8 on the iPhone 6 are resolved. Thanks for the heads up!

That's interesting that the VIN alone can't be used to determine if the USB update can be successfully applied to the car. The VIN only narrows the choices down to a set of build dates which you then must look up. Somehow I thought the VIN would be enough? BMW surely would know what build date was associated with what VIN?

If you ask nicely, the dealer may flash it up to latest one. EDIT: Nevermind. My SA said any firmware update not required by a SIB or as part of troubleshooting of an existing issue will be at cost. And any repairs from fallout of that update will also be at cost.

I feel bad for those who have NBT hardware and pre Feb 2014 builds. They likely got their cars later than April 2014, and only received one software update for their vehicles which are less than one year old.
If update support is discontinued for these vehicles, it seems like BMW really isn't treating them as durable goods. The iPhone 4s was introduced in October 2011 and is still receiving software support. Which would you expect to last longer, a smartphone or a car? |

Two of those times were for a SIB, one was for a unrelated chassis issue. Current: F020-14-07-503 Shipment: F020-13-07-506 I asked my SA yesterday do another firmware update during the oil change and he was OK with it.

Positive: Finally there's some sort of an update.
Negative: They only tested this latest update with iOS6? Seriously BMW...as a software developer myself, this is silly to be two major releases behind on your so-called best-integrated platform.

No kidding. WTF are they doing? Keeping incredibly old devices around with operating systems no one uses? They need to get their heads out of the sand. iOS 7 and 8 are in the high 90s in terms of percentage install base.

It's the equivalent of certifying IE11 to run on Windows 95.

I know the 5021 is old... I was reading the years wrong. Yours if from 2013 and not 2014. Sorry about the confusion...

I will just wait til spring when it warms up. Don't want to have to sit in a cold garage re-coding all my previous coding unless they have a dramatic improvement.

I am actually surprised my build date was that far back. I could have sworn I saw a build date on some paper documentation that said it was Dec 2013 build, but the lookup says May 2013. It wouldn't have helped in this situation, but what was the car doing for roughly a year before I got it?! I know it was at the port this past Spring when I got it because I had to wait for it to get out of New Jersey.
