320i SAT coding and Dinan Stage 1 tune

Hello everyone. Is it possible for the BMW dealership to code SAT on my 320i? My car is under warranty, and I want to know if the work they do will get a warranty. Also, is it possible to get a Dinan Stage 1 tune and have SAT? Will they clash with each other?

1) Ask your dealership, most will charge for coding
2) No, it will not clash

Hello! Why Dinan? Is it much better than Burger tune st1 or JB4? Dinan is much more expensive...

Just to be safe. That's why lol. I'm sure you can get better stuff. But keep in mind that this is a 320i. I'll get a better car in a few years lol. I'm not trying to race anyone right now . Plus, Dinan matches my warranty.

I agree. Warranty is important. But i think the best upgrade for 320i is 328i ECU program.

Oh ok. Can you tell me what that is?

You increase power by installing 328i engine controling program on your's 320i electronic control unit.
328i and 320i have the same engines, exept compression ratio - 320i has higher, but this fact doesn't matter if the fuel is good.

I know want to know this: if I get a Dinan Stage 1 tune, code SAT, and get a 328i flash tune, what are the new numbers? Is it safe?

Pretty sure you can't actually do this. Any ECU flash will remap the ECU to a tuner's custom map, but you can't just flash a 328i ECU firmware onto 320i (that will fail so many checksums that the car will be fully dead if it's writable).

The only way to get near 328i HP is to increase the boost using an ECU flash or a piggyback like BMS or Dinan.
The Dinan warranty is also a 3rd party plan, so it won't actually be BMW's warranty, but if anything related to the engine breaks due to their tune they'll replace it.

A stage 1 Dinan (or BMS) will bring it to about (maybe 5-10hp under?) 328i levels of hp/tq. SAT wouldn't really do anything power wise except change the shift logic to be more aggressive.

It's quite possible, but i don't know how actually remap procedure runs. Our tuners don't share their secrets. I only know? that it works and runs pretty fast. As example:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i1wjRERogEM

Would getting a 328i ECU be dumb and unsafe for the car? I'm still trying to figure out if the dealer would do it. If the dealer does it, that means they think it's safe right?

It's safe for the car, but you must use only premium high-octane fuels. 320 and 328 have the same engines, but different pistons and compression ratio (320i has higher). Consequently, 320i is more sensitive to detonation.
Dealers won't do this)) They want to sell 328's, not to make it from 320's.)

They stopped selling the 328i's in 2017 so my only options were the 320i and 330i. I actually was planning on purchasing the 328i but oh well. That's the reason I ask- because there is no more 328i. But I guess I can't really do anything now because the dealer doesn't offer a 328i ECU. So, I'm just going to stick with getting a Dinan stage 1 tune. But, does the dealer offer SAT coding?

330i powered by new b48 engine and it has many differences with 328's n20 engine.
In fact, your first decision about Dinan st1 is more reasonable, if you don't want to have problems with your dealer. It's hard to say about SAT coding... Try to ask different dealers. Maybe one or more will offer SAT...

You can code SAT yourself, it will not void the warranty.

Don't know about SAT but FWIW, I found the Dinan Stage made a big difference on my 2016 320. I'd start there.
