Preparing for pickup
After two months of waiting, my F30 has finally made it to my dealer . I'm picking it up in a couple of days. What prep work do I need to do before I pick up the car and at the time I'm at the dealer? This is not a thread for financial/insurance stuff, I've got that covered.
Are there any special instructions I should be giving my SA? No front license plate mount, for example. Are there any recommended codings that I should ask for? Anything that needs to be tested before taking off? I have a long drive back home. What do I need to do to be ready music-wise? I have an iPhone and will load it with music. I've downloaded the BMW Connected app. Is it likely to work off the bat or am I better off loading a USB stick? |

This would be overkill for most people. Unless you're OCD like me.

Are you kidding me with that .pdf?
OP, pretty sure the dealer isn't going to "code" your car or enable anything that wasn't supposed to be from the factory. |

Regarding the BMW connected app. Just download the app to your phone, and log in with the credentials that your delivery coordinator will provide you with (it's on the contract of connected drive services). You can pre configure apps like Facebook and Twitter beforehand. If you are into frequently updating your wall status, I recommend deleting the default templates because honestly who is that big of a tool to auto post "it's 20 degrees outside and I'm driving around in my BMW", no kidding.
If you also have functionality for the remote app, make sure that it works as well. Beyond that, have a thorough walk around the car before signing, if you spot any imperfection, from mud to scratches, let them know. As for coding, you can ask for the memory ASS button and maybe mirror auto fold on lock. Also look up on current incentives rates and residuals and if any is better than what you negotiated for ask them to honor it. Remember that you didn't sign on for anything back then because ownership hadn't started (and you probably didn't have a VIN neither, that's a dead giveaway) |

When I picked mine up I had the full options list printed out and went down every option one by one to verify it. The stuff I did not know about I asked the SA. I also went over every inch of the car with a flashlight to make sure there were no scratches or anything else. Had them spot clean a few parts.
Depending on how you plan to wash your car, I would also recommend telling the dealer not to wash it. I wash my car myself and am very careful to avoid light scratches. If you plan to ever wash your car in a normal car wash, then it's not a big deal. |
