I would agree on the programming to quiet up the V1, yet the V1 detector requires the use of your phone to be connected for the programming to work. I use my phone for WAZE to help on trips for locating officers and hazards. Additionally, the V1 does not have GPS therefore it does not have the speed and intersection camera locations identified. The Escort 360 requires a subscription to have that information available. Do not get me wrong, the V1 is the best for range and the directional arrows are very helpful. I am just saying that the Radenso is worth a serious look because it has the GPS with self lockouts for the repeatable radar K band sites (Walgreens, Krogers, Banks, etc.), it has excellent Ka band reception and is so quiet that when you do get a reading, it is not ignored.

???

You program the V1 via buttons on the unit. Set and forget and never need a phone. It remembers your settings.

Which Waze app do you recommend to use? Thanks.

How does this topic keep coming up year after year?

My view on the necessity has changed a bit in recent years, but Valentine 1 is what I have owned for 15 years and the only one I'd recommend.

However.... WAZE on your phone is often the better bet since nothing gives early enough warning for Laser. Plus, the app is legal in Virginia. Ha!

I'm updating my opinion on this topic as I just updated my unit from a 9500ix to a uniden r3. I was going to go max360 as I really wanted the directionals but after many reviews I decided to go with the insane range and superior filtering of the uniden. Its only been a couple of days but loving it so far.

Are you still happy with the r3 ? I was thinking of getting the Uniden r3 or the Escort Max 360C and I am leaning on the Uniden r3 right now...

this reply is probably too late but yes i really like my r3. the range on it is amazing. falsies are very low, especially once you code out frequencies not used in your state

I got the Uniden R3 it is extremely better then my Escort 9500ix with all the false BSM I get and its way out of date. I weighted out between Max 360c $700 and Uniden R3 $399 and got the R3 and I am very happy with it. Plus I use Waze and Escort Live running in the background.

If anyone is really interested in Radar Detectors and Laser ALP info you should check out the RD Forum which is chock filled with tons of information and testing videos etc. Stay safe, drive safe.
