Sounds about right. I'd expect a bit higher but not that much. You could be 'lead' footing it, which sucks gas like crazy. To note, the 328 doesn't actually get that much better mpg than the 335 which is rated 26mpg combined if I recall.

I get around 24mpg in the city with my upgraded wheels/tires (265 rear 235 front Mich PSS) which is a bit less than I got with the regular OEMs. Although, I just got 34mpg on the highway on my return trip home yesterday cruising at 78mph. I think the cold weather made my tires have less rolling resistance perhaps?

Originally I was going to get the 320d but I've been recently wondering whether to get the 328i, since it doesn't cost THAT much more than the 320d and diesel in the UK is 8p/litre more than petrol. The official figures for the 320d and 328i are 60mpg and 44mpg respectively, so since real-world figures for the 320d are about 50mpg I'd assumed that the 328i would simply give 15mpg less than that; I could live with 34mpg but judging from the posts in this thread it's likely to be considerably less than that, in which case fuel and insurance would be just too expensive, not to mention being too hard to justify for a hypocritical environmentalist like myself.

(All figures above are in UK gallons, and yes we buy our fuel in litres, use miles on the road and measure our cars' efficiency in mpg. Go figure. )

Hi mate did u get the 328i? What's it like? Fuel Econ?

I got 34.6 yesterday for a 2 hour interstate trip at 78 mph on eco-mode on cruise. I will be duplicating the trip again tonight, so I can update again. This is on a 2014 328i with sports package and rwd using 93 octane fuel holding 78 mph the whole way except to pass.

I have a 335 w/ MPPK and MPE. On a per trip basis of about 50 miles on eco pro, I average 30mpg, mostly on highway. On a per tank basis I average 25-26mpgs.

I drive a 2014 BMW 328D, not sure if you want info on the diesel model

but so far I have driven 8000+ miles, and I'm about 39MPG combined miles and highway.
Everytime i fill up my tank the # of miles I can drive keeps increasing, now one tank says it'll give me a little over 600 miles.

A few weeks ago, I took a road trip from LA -> San fran, drove an average speed of 70mph on the way up north, got about 43MPG, used up about half my tank of diesel.
when i drove down, i drove faster, i averaged about 90mph on the 5 coming down, and i was impressed, i still drove 40MPG.

the diesel engine is actually pretty economical.

That can't be miles per US gallon!

I guess you use miles per Imperial gallon in the UK?

I wasn't aware there was a difference, but have just Googled to find that indeed the yanks have a different gallon to us Brits. They are both 8 pints but a US pint is 16 fl oz and the UK is 20.

Presumably the US cars read MPG using a smaller gallon so are about 20% more efficient than they look.

My 328i only has a tad over 3k miles, but I'm seeing 24-25mpg on my commute (5 miles one way, "around-town" not-quite-urban type driving) and 32 mpg on the freeway easily. On 100% freeway measurement I can get 34 easily. Stretching I'd bet 36 but haven't recorded higher than 35 yet.

In my 335i, I get about 20 US MPG when driving "normally" and 38 US MPG in Eco Pro on the highway driving the speed limit and like a grandpa (extremely boring).

I average 22.2 MPG overall consistently and I had the car for almost a year now.

Mostly in comfort mode though I often drive spirited (i.e. Like to pass people and not stay on right lane). I would say 60 highway 40 city.

I have driven a 320d (US 328d) for 1 year now and have calculated the fuel consumption to compare with the computer in the car.

Average (real) consumption during these 12 months is 4.95 l/100 km ~ 47 mpg (US), according to the car computer 4.7 l/100 km ~ 50 mpg. The computer gives 5% lower consumption than real.

The lowest consumption for a single trip with the car was on a commuting home from work, with combined city and highway driving during 45 minutes. 3.7 l/100 km ~ 64 mpg, as seen in the photo below.

I've got the 14' 328i xdrive and drive 90 miles or so per weekday, nearly all of it highway. I use Ecopro mode quite a lot and cruise around 75mph. My onboard computer registers an average of 27.9mpg but the Eco analyzer shows I get 36-39mpg regularly when cruising to and from work. The last tank of fuel went to 363miles and I was at just below a quarter tank. When I went to fill up at the petrol station it took 11.8gal.

I don't push it often, too much traffic around me to let it really breathe.

I have about 6k miles on it. So there you have a comparison. Cheers
